Sour chocolate smell. Taste follows nose with heavy lactic sourness. Medium to high carbonation.

All I just canít figure it out. But the Tart of Darkness and I just donít get along well. I found this out of balance, overly sour, overripe fruit, hints of cocoa and vanilla.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a black color with a pungent sour malt smell. Taste is alcohol up front with over rippened fruit flavor. The alcohol comes straight through then disappears quickly but leaves a burn in the chest. Faint chocolate and vanilla taste but overall decent.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Wow. Draft at the tasting room. Brown pour with a slight tan head. Slight chocolate and vanilla nose. Beautiful blend of sour, chocolate and vanilla - blowing my mind a bit that a sour could have these components. Fantastic.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
I love tart of darkness, and the vanilla and cocoa nibs add an amazing layer to it. The chocolatey taste pairs perfectly with tartness of the original.

Daft. Black pour with no head. Cacao aroma dominate the normal sir stout aromas. Chocolate flavor and tart sour black malts. Very different from the original.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ The Bruery. Black pour with a small tan head. Really strong chocolate and vanilla notes. Light roast, licorice, and tartness. A bit of grass and fruit. Flavor is big on the vanilla and chocolate. Which, oddly, works nicely with the sourness, and also mitigates it. Notes of roast, oak, sour orange, and lemon.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Bruery; still growing into liking sour beers. Aroma featured more of the tartness and cherries/fruit, when compared to the flavor. Flavor was still sour, but more balanced some vanilla and chocolate.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Bruery; probably my favorite on the day. Didnít note the color. ARoma and flavor both had a lot of depth and complexity. Surprising cocoa and vanilla notes, with some nice sourness. Pleasant on the palate.
