COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

2014 version. Dark brown, small lively head. I am only picking up huge laccto sour notes in the aroma, nothing else. Taste is explosive tartness. Nothing going on here but sour. Fun but I bet this is not suppose to be this overpowering sour.

Coming from someone who loves their sours, this is a fanatic pick. Itís sweet and sour. The after taste is pleasant. Smells of sweet cherries.

This beer fits its description! Pours black with a thin off white head. Aroma is full of sour fruit. Very bubbly in the mouth like hundreds tiny of pins. Finishes tart / sour throughout.

Very very tart! Sour right from the get go and very delicious. It's called a sour stout and it looks it but tastes to me more like an extra sour Flanders brown.

strange dark red brown no head. Big aroma of leather chocolate, creamy yeast, cherries wood. Can smell it from far away. tastes sour cherries, granny smiths dunked in coco. slight whisky slight wood. Acidic palate. not enough stout contribution on mouthfeel, or flavor.

8/23/2014. From bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Tart, funky aromas with dark fruit. Hints on oak. Excellent balance and very complex. Outstanding!

Draft pour at Bambinos. Pours super dark with a sour fruit, cherry aroma. No head on this one, but who cares when it tastes this good. Cherry flavor at first with a really long, tart, amazing finish. This is a very special beer, and so far, I have to say itís the best beer Iíve had. This is coming from somebody who seek out sour ales and Iíve been looking for beers exactly like this one. Canít say enough about this one. The closest to a perfect beer Iíve come across. If you love beer, you might want to try this one. If you love sour ales, this is a must try beer. Before I start rambling, long story short, I loved this beer.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2014 (Draft at Brookland Pint in DC) Interesting blend of styles; definitely comes across as more of a sour than a stout. Dark brown body with a beige head. Tart, fruit brett aroma. Medium body. Flavor is nicely tart, cherries, caramel, wood, vinegar; moderately sweet with dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with an almost reddish hint with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma of tart and oak. Taste of sourness, dark chocolate, and oak.

Very good for a sour - still trying to appreciate these. Black pour. Made my cheeks suck in on first drink. Tasty. Like a sour wine cooler but of course much better. Cherry and jolly rancher shit. Not sure how to describe sours. Had this on draft at Jerry's in Andersonville, part of a flight.
