COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

Pours black with a fairly low tan head. Aromas of red currant, cherries, roasted malts, raspberries, slight chocolate and nutty notes. Taste is red currant, roasted malts, funk, chocolate, raspberries, cherries, slight almond tones. Mouthfeel is quite dry and tart with medium carbonation.

Bottle cheers to Palo. Glad to finally crack one of these. Loads of damp wood and earth beyond the heavy acetic and vinegar driven sourness. Itís absolutely tarty as hell with loads of acid, vinegar, dark fruits, brown sugar and woodiness. The name says it all. Great beer

Blackish pour, light tan head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is very sour with funk, barnyard action, also lesser stout notes such as chocolate and caramel. Lowly hopped, not much for roast, very sour.

Bottle from brewdog bar, sheffield. Iíll start by saying Iím not a big fan of sours. Itís pitch black with a thin light tan head. Aroma is sour cherries and liquorice. Taste is extremely sour, but not acerbic like some. The deep rich flavour from the stout counters and compliments the sourness. Palate is rather thin, but carbonation is subtle.

On tap at Harryís Hofbrau. Sourness is a little restrained. Roast is a little overdone. Color is brown and clear, with a deep taupe head. Had this after the Oude Tart, which I loved....so this score may have been hindered by how much I enjoyed the last glass.

Dark ruby stout color thin dark head. Aroma is oaky pot barrel. Taste is super sour up front. Slowly fades to a wine like finish. Very nice tart sour.

2014 version. Dark brown, small lively head. I am only picking up huge laccto sour notes in the aroma, nothing else. Taste is explosive tartness. Nothing going on here but sour. Fun but I bet this is not suppose to be this overpowering sour.

Coming from someone who loves their sours, this is a fanatic pick. Itís sweet and sour. The after taste is pleasant. Smells of sweet cherries.

This beer fits its description! Pours black with a thin off white head. Aroma is full of sour fruit. Very bubbly in the mouth like hundreds tiny of pins. Finishes tart / sour throughout.

Very very tart! Sour right from the get go and very delicious. It's called a sour stout and it looks it but tastes to me more like an extra sour Flanders brown.
