Had a glass on tap at the mikkeller bar in SF. Wow, this is crazy. Super sour and funky, doesnít have many stout flavors except a chocolate sweetness on the finish. Delicious.

At Rockwells, Quite puckery sour. Took me quite a few sips to get used to it. Thin wine like beer and the roasted malt didnít compete. Serving: Tap

Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours a nearly opaque reddish brown, slight tan head. Aroma is pedio, cherries, plums. Body very lively, finish sweet/sour with an overall lactic character too. Very nice!

Best black sour Iíve had. Stout? Not hardly. Only a whiff. Whatever the roasted grain brings to this beer isnít much but they do deliver a slight softness. Pours dark, dark ruby with a small, fizzy light brown head. Thin. Little barrel.

Tap. Pours deep black with a small tan head and some lacing. Aroma is tart cherry, woody, roasted malts. Quite nice actually. Flavor is the same, very light sweetness, medium plus tartness, with just a hint of roasted malts peeking through on the finish. This is clearly a sour-forward beer, with the stout notes barely peeking through, but it is tasty for what it is.

Pour is clean and opaque black with thin wispy tan head Very rich nose, cherry skin notes and a very nice acidity with a touch of toasted grain. Estery nose with a good bit of acetic acid. Very nice acidity in the flavor. Light and very tart.

Pour is a dark brown/black with a little light getting through on the edges and a small bubbly brown head. Very toasty malt note on the nose up front, very tart, red wine, some definite oak, and caramel. Very sour up front on the taste, you get a nice very subtle chocolate/coffee note in there, nice berry flavors in there, balsamic vinegar, oak, somewhat earthy malty notes I canít place my finger on, and thereís almost a smoky taste too. Interesting idea. I donít get very much from it that reminds me of a stout. The closest comparison I could give would be a flanders red, but much maltier.

Dark amber with minimal head. Aromas of fig, molassas, prune, chocolate, and a bit of green/vegetal. Taste is light heat, balsamic, wood, and sour red wine. The habanero is subtle and well balanced.
