COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

750 ml bottle. Pours a near black with a ring of white foam around the edge of the glass. Aroma is full of raisins, tart fruits, crabapples. Taste is rich, dark tartness. Sour finish. One of the most sour beers I’ve had to date.

Bottle. Black pour with no head. Sour and fruit like aromas with little to no malt tone. Flavor is light brett, dry tart fruit, and some hints of stout this once was.

Bottle share thanks to Paul, nice reddish brown pour with a bit of white head. Aroma of some cherries and a bit of vinegar/vinous character. Taste is some cherry and dark malt with some nice tartness.

Bottle. Pours with a nose of baked sour cherry. Flavor is dark chocolate soured on flatbread. Nice mouthfeel. Good beer.

Pours a mahogany ruby brown color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose is very vinous with notes of cider vinegar, pinot noir and a roasty chocolate malt backbone. On the palate it follows suit but is slightly disjointed. Nice levels of acidity and not overly acetic... but lacking a overly complex palate... very flemish in its character with a long lingering pucker.

Another gem.... balsamic vinegar wet wood and stale coffee dominate this typically substandard bruery beer.

Aroma-Aroma smells like sour cherries also getting a vine-type smell as well. Also getting a slight roasty note. Taste-Taste is really sour probably the most sour tasting beer I have ever had this is up there with Weyerbacher Riserva 2010. not really getting any stout like characteristics. I am getting some oak like character, but its more like oak tannins than anything else. Appearance-Very dark-brown with a slight red hue. The head was off-white and disappeared quickly and left no lacing. Overall-A really good beer. Very interesting indeed, it is something I would like to get again but it is a little pricey

Delicious sour and fruity aroma on the pour. Almost looks like a coke with all the carbonation and dark color. Very tart and lots of bubbles but the fruity sourness and sweet oak male this shine. Stoutness is interesting but very subtle, comes thru the most in the palate to me. Fantastic.

Dark in color. Head dissipates quickly. High in carbonation. Very strong sour flavor with hints of cherry and oak. Doesn’t leave bad flavor I’m mouth. At 5.6% its a very drinkable sour.

750ml bottles at Beer Club from Cotteridge Wines.31st march. This one poured black with a small light tan head.Immediate aromas of oak, malt vinegar, cherry, caramel, coffee and brett.Aromas subsided noticeably after short while.Roast malt, malt vinegar, oak, brett, fruit, varnish and blue cheese all detected in the flavours and some light pepper on aftertaste of first few sips.Opinions strongly divided on this one with some totally non plussed.Roberto,Bob and myself all agreeing it was the beer of the day,one which you just could not stop sipping away at and produced sadness after it was gone.Great beer.
