COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

Dark in color. Head dissipates quickly. High in carbonation. Very strong sour flavor with hints of cherry and oak. Doesn’t leave bad flavor I’m mouth. At 5.6% its a very drinkable sour.

Bottle at Antenna America. Nice looks like a stout, but doesn’t smell like it. Aroma is grapes, gaffer tape, gooseberrries. Little bit of roast hiding there somewhere.Taste is fruity, initial sourness, dark fruit, white grapes, little bit of roast at the end. Much more sour than stout, but you can feel it poking its head up occasionally. Dr pepper! Later, blackberries, bit more roast, light sweetness. Nice.

GABF 2014. One of the best beers of the festival. Excellent sour cherry in the aroma and the flavor. Lots of fruit; and yeast as well. Full of flavor. Fantastic.

Bottle in FL. Nice fruit aroma but the taste is just too tart (and I love sours). Black pour but that does not make a stout. Maybe mine was flat?

750 ml bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. Appearance: Jet black. No head. at all. Aroma: Straight up lactic acid. Very tart nose. Nothing else. Taste: Tartness. Nothing else. Palate: Thin body, light carbonation. Long finish. Overall: A little one dimensional. It does tart very well, but there is a not a lot else to the beer. Hard to drink more than a little bit of this beer.
