COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

Tap at the Bruery. The beer was deeply soured berries and chocolate. It has a strange zinc like characteristic on the finish. Perhaps that is the chocolate or espresso?

March 21, 2015 - 2012 bottle from Nova. Dark pour with some head that faded quickly. Aroma was sour fruit, oak and yeast. Taste was quite tart initially and then moves into a strong oak. The oak lasts for a while and a slight amount of sweet malt comes out in the finish.

A: Cassis, chewing gum, plum T: Tart! Sweet after the tartness fall back... Nice palate, but a bit to tart for me... O: Nice sour and not what I was expecting. I expected far more roasted flavours.

Pours a thin black with no head. Aromas are milk chocolate, brownie, vanilla, oak, and lots of sour characters. Lemon, yogurt, vinegar. Flavours are bubblegum, chocolate, lemon, white wine, a bit of barrel. A fantastic and unique brew.

Appearance: pours with almost no head, the tiny head is tan and fleeting though, the beer is very black with brown hues around the edges Aroma: sour, tart, wild, I'm not picking up much of the stout aromas Taste: very sour, very tart, slight coffee hints on the finish, Palate: light mouthfeel, soft carbonation, tart aftertaste Overall: not what I was expecting but delicious, much more of a sour beer than a stout, the color is almost deceiving to the taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
