COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Very black with a hint of deep ruby near the top. Thin khaki film that settles to a thick collar right away. Aroma is lots of wet oak, bloody plums and cherry skins, and apple cider vinegar. Fruity and tart with a damp oak underlayer, there isn’t much stout to the nose. Taste is more like an Oud Bruin than anything... Sour cherries, sweettarts, apple vinegar, ripe plum skins, and lots of wet, faintly musty oak. Again, not much stout... Some deep dark fruits on the very, very back end with more drying, tart oak. I’m okay with the lack of stout, though, because this makes for a very good Oud Bruin.

(Draft at Brookland Pint in DC) Interesting blend of styles; definitely comes across as more of a sour than a stout. Dark brown body with a beige head. Tart, fruit brett aroma. Medium body. Flavor is nicely tart, cherries, caramel, wood, vinegar; moderately sweet with dry finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with an almost reddish hint with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma of tart and oak. Taste of sourness, dark chocolate, and oak.

Very good for a sour - still trying to appreciate these. Black pour. Made my cheeks suck in on first drink. Tasty. Like a sour wine cooler but of course much better. Cherry and jolly rancher shit. Not sure how to describe sours. Had this on draft at Jerry's in Andersonville, part of a flight.

Draft at Madrones in Frederick, MD. Served in a snifter glass, deep black color with off-white head. Aroma of vinegar, tart, red wine, light chocolate and fruity. Taste adds berries, sugar and faint oak. Light body, low-moderate carbonation, acidic, crisp with tangy slight smoky finish. Way more sour than stout, very good.

The best sour I have tasted hands down. Not overly sour with a cherry backbone. Just crushable and is brownish red in color. Had this one at Jerry's in Andersonville ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour is purplish black with a soapy ring. Nose is heavy sweetness, disoriented malt sugars and berry sweetness with a light leathery brett presence. Taste is awful, strong acetic acid and extreme residual sugar with tons of malt sweetness. Virtually no stout flavors other than too sweet, finish is bretty and bitter with high acid levels and a slick oily feel. Rough drain pour.

On tap at Beercraft. Pours a dark brown color without any head. Nice medium tartness and not overpowering the maltiness.
