COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.
Originally part of the Provisions series.

Dark brown/black color; Medium body; Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, sour dark fruit, & some vanilla; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, yeast, oak, sour dark fruit (notably prunes & berries), some chocolate notes, and spice; Finish is dry & sour/tart; Nicely balanced; Overall, not overly complex - but I enjoyed.

750 ml bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. Appearance: Jet black. No head. at all. Aroma: Straight up lactic acid. Very tart nose. Nothing else. Taste: Tartness. Nothing else. Palate: Thin body, light carbonation. Long finish. Overall: A little one dimensional. It does tart very well, but there is a not a lot else to the beer. Hard to drink more than a little bit of this beer.

Bottle at DØE Rødovre. Low fluffy off-white quickly disappearing head. Clear dark red brown body. Brett dominated sour berries aroma. Sour lemon vinegar berries flavor with little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long finish.

Great aroma. But tastes like grape juice. Really tart. Totally a sour but was under porters and stouts. Meh.

Pour is deep brown with slight red tints and a medium tan head. Aroma and flavor of sour mash, cherries, oak chips, and slight roast. The stout base is almost completely overpowered by the souring. Good.

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar SF. Pours a pitch black with no head. Wow nose is tart as fuck - loads of damp wood, acid, dark fruits and earthy tones. Taste is more of the same with brown sugar sweetness and vinegar. So sour. So fuking good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a black color with basically no head. Aroma of tartness from the wild yeast with roasty undertones and slight hint of oak. Flavor is dominated by the sour tartness. The roasted flavors of the stout are barely present in the palate. The do blend nicely tho. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of my favorite beers. A hard hitting, puckering sour that finishes with a faintly sweet, roasty flavor of a stout. A truly unique beer that deserves to be tried by everyone.
