Location/Date:Bottle on 2/7/2014 split with Dave and Harris.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown red.
Aroma: Aroma of dark fruit, lightly funky.
Taste: Dark fruit, faint oak, lightly funky
Palate:Medium body, thick, light lingering finish.

Summary: I am not the biggest sour fan in the world, but will take 3-4 oz while my friends work on the rest of the bottle. This was pretty solid.

750 ml Reserve Society bottle. Hazy amber type red color. Nose is tart cherries with vinegar notes. Man, I’m just not a fan of vinegar in Sour ales... Flavor is blackberry and cherries smashed and left to turn sour in the bottom of your fridge for two months. I enjoy the berry flavor but the vinegar that shows itself in the finish really ruins the experience for me. The carbonation is a tad to elevated and gives a spritz feel. I wanted to like this but I just couldn’t.

2013 Bottle via Bruery Reserve Society. Enjoyed at 40F in a snifter.

A - Forms a 3 finger yellow whit head...fades to a thin ring. Very muted golden red / amber appearance.

S - Nose is dominated by vinegar, cherry and blackberries. Like a dessert with balsamic notes.

T - Lots of fruit, lots of balsamic vinegar, smells like a fruit salad, corn and biscuits. gingerbread cookies, more sour and tart and the blackberries are very dominant.

M - Lots of foamy over run creamy explosive carbonation.

O - Aside from the total vinegar bomb, it’s good. The fruit is very nice but I’m stoked to not have a second or third bottle oft his. Just the Bruery allocation bottle and that’s perfect.

Bottle with the boys. Aroma is sour cherry, some cranberry, and a sour candy. Pours bright burgundy red and kind of murky. A little film but not much head. Taste is mixed berries: cranberry, blackberry, and cherry. There is a powdery sugar candy taste throughout: pixie stix and sweet tarts. Nice acidity and fruity goodness. Reminds me of the Cascade Cerise Nouveaux.

bottle shared by cparles, thanks chris! pours cloudy light brown, red tint, with a nice off-white head, some retention and lacing. cheese, butter, sweetish caramel, juicy fruitiness - mostly cherries along with citric acid, some lactic too, wood and its tannins - red wine, leather. moderate carbonation, light to medium body - oily, grassy-spicy finish. tart, tasty and balanced without being extremely complex. very good!

Bottle (750 ml). Shared by cparles, thanks Chris! Dark reddish/amber/brown color with a small beige head and little lacing. Aroma is different than most of The Bruery sours I’ve tried yet as it’s way less acetic, more fruity with a good amount of fruit sweetness, winey notes, oak and light vanilla. Taste is slightly sour with a huge amount of red fruits, light sweetness, winey notes and wood. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Winey mouthfeel. Not overly acetic, which is surprising considering other ratings. Good balance. Complex and really tasty. Very fruity. Definitely one of my favorite from The Bruery so far.

Pours a murky brown color with distinct red highlights. Raspberry and cherry notes dominate the nose, with a lactic sour funk underlying. On the palate it hits hard for a second with an astringent sour note, but bright sweet fruit balances it out on the finish. Really well balanced and complex. Lovely.

Pours a dirty red with 1 finger of white foam that quickly dissipates. Aroma of slight sourness, blueberry, oak, and leather. Taste of berries, bourbon, sour cherry and leather. Finishes with a slight lingering tartness. Thin mouthfeel, but doesn’t detract. Overall, decent beer, but not their best.
