Wandering into a serendipitous meeting in Boonville led to the forging of a relationship between City Beer Store and The Bruery and a beer collaboration worth celebrating. Cheers to five years! Pours a murky brown color with distinct red highlights. Raspberry and cherry notes dominate the nose, with a lactic sour funk underlying. On the palate it hits hard for a second with an astringent sour note, but bright sweet fruit balances it out on the finish. Really well balanced and complex. Lovely.

Pours a dirty red with 1 finger of white foam that quickly dissipates. Aroma of slight sourness, blueberry, oak, and leather. Taste of berries, bourbon, sour cherry and leather. Finishes with a slight lingering tartness. Thin mouthfeel, but doesn’t detract. Overall, decent beer, but not their best.

Dogbrick (7952) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Pours a cloudy reddish-brown color with a medium thick off-white head that recedes gradually. Rings of lacing on the glass. Medium-bodied with flavors of tart fruit, oak and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of sour cherries and berries, oak and earthy yeast. The finish is oaky and funky with a lingering mouth-puckering sour fruit aftertaste. Very good overall.

Cloudy reddish brown color, smallish head, some lacing/retention. Aroma is sour cherry, oak, vanilla, wood. Medium bodied, moderate to high tartness, moderate sweetness. Nice sour, maybe my favorite from them yet.

750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours cloudy ruby/brown with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of sour/funkiness, dark fruits, berries and cherries, oak, dark and pale malts, and light spices. Flavor the same with a great blend of the fruits, sourness, and oak. Average texture. A good sour.

On tap at City Beer, pours a cloudy dark amber / burgundy with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out blackberries, cherries and prune - and some bourbon. Flavour brings out intense fruitiness, featuring notes of blackberries, cherries and prunes, with ample tartness, oak and wood. Extremely complex and well-balanced, with a very fruity and wood body. One of the Bruery’s better sours.

On Tap at The bruery. Dark crimson. Huge blackberry and blueberry on the nose. Like sticking your head in a bucket of freshly crushed berries. A little less tart than I imagined, but a nice fruit forward flavor. The aroma is the real star here.
