Our Summer seasonal, Trade Winds Tripel is a Belgian-style Golden Ale with a Southeast Asian twist. Instead of using candi sugar (typical for such a beer), we use rice in the mash to lighten the body and increase the gravity, and spice with Thai Basil. The result is an aromatic, digestible and complex beer made for a lazy summer evening. (ABV: 8%, IBU: 25, SRM: 5, Release: Summer, Format: 750 mL bottles)

Spicy basil aroma, slightly vinous. Tastes of white grape, basil. Medium carbonation, some alcohol warmth. Refreshing and delicious!

750 ml bottle- Pours hazy golden with a one finger fluffy white head, minimal lace. Aroma is candy sugar, exotic, spices, yeasty, orange and other fruits. Taste is candy (or is it candi?) sugar, banana esters, yeasty, not sure what the difference between Thai basil and regular old basil is, but there is a definite spice that I detect, tasty beer for sure. The Bruery never disappoints, this isn’t my favorite by any means, but still well worth trying.

Aromas of floral, grass, herbs and earth. Hazy golden color with a frothy white head. Light body, great yeast character, good bitterness and a touch of sweetness. This is a tasty brew.

750 ml Bottle. Appearance is a hazy dark gold color with a layer of beige foam. The aroma is mostly Belgian yeast, pear, apricot and herbs. The flavor blends honey, coconut and Belgian malts upfront along with some pineapple, clove and pepper to round it out. Medium-bodied with strong carbonation and a dry, spiced finish. Overall, an enjoyable tropical Tripel.

I was looking for a nice Belgian tripel, but trade winds wasn’t exactly what I expected. The bottle says there is fresh Thai basil, but it was overpowering to the point that the beer was only mildly enjoyable. I really wanted to like this beer, but it was just mediocre. Golden color, tastes and smells of basil, overpowering, overall, not bad, it expected more from The Bruery

Very unique beer. More like a Weiss or saison then a triple. Pours a pretty orange. Smells like strawberries and rice pudding with a hint of basil. More of that in the taste. Slightly weird aftertaste. Paired with trader joes shrimp gyoza, which sharpens the flavors and smooths out the aftertaste. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750 ml bottle. Pours cloudy yellow-orange with a good-sized cream-colored head with nice retention. Aroma is herbal, citrus powder drink, earthy. Taste is pretty exotic--I guess that’s what you get from a Thai basil-infused tripel. It’s sweet, savory and a little tart; lightly bitter in the finish. Tastes fruity, although I’d be hard-pressed to say which fruit it is I’m tasting. Slightly foamy mouthfeel, somewhat high carbonation, medium body. Nice beer.

On tap at the Bruery; a good beer. Poured a golden yellow color. Aroma of banana, yeast, tropical fruit. Flavor was similar with some pineapple elements. Good.

Draft. Gold with almost no head. Aroma is heavy on tropical fruit. Taste is the same with a big yeast profile and some spice at the end. Very bright. Smooth palate with just enough carb. Surprisingly refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

straw-gold with thick white fluffy head. Aroma is a lightly spicy Belgian yeast with grain. Body is light. Flavor has the aforementioned spicy yeast notes with a bit of noble hops flavor and moderate bitterness (for the delicate style). Not getting the basil; there might be an interesting flavor apparent nearing the aftertaste, but it’s quiet. Ok tripel, just not that exciting.
