3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20Bottle, shared at RBAG Summer Session 2012. Clear deep golden body, medium carbo, average white head that leaves fine lacy streaks. Aroma is sweet pale malts, with fairly classic spiciness. I thought I was getting some wheat notes, but I’m reading on the label that they used rice, not wheat. Anyway, I could find no basil in either the nose or the palate.It still drank as a well balanced triple, with belgian sugar sweetness, spicy yeast, and mild bitterness in the finish. But triples don’t really excite me that much unless they bring something new to the table. I thought this one would give me Thai basil (which I have growing in my garden-- a nice, slightly purple basil plant with a slightly aniseed flavour)... but it didn’t. Just okay.

Very nice beer. But the Thai basil is really not present in the aroma or taste. By itself it is a very nice tripel or saison. Wanted a stronger basil flavor.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a large head. Aroma of basil, fruit, yeast, citrus and spices. Flavor was slightly sweet with sweet pale malts, yeast, basil, citrus, fruit a hint of clove and some subtle spices.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a hazy golden coloured beer with a fruity apricot and coconut flavours, a creamy mouthfeel and a spicy finish.

Draft. Golden pour with a big white head. Grass, spice, white bread. Dry, bitter, sweet. Very easy drinking.

Wet horse blanket yeasty smell you would expect from a Belgian style. Spicy yet still smooth delicious finish that fades so nicely.

Hazy yellow/orange with a pale head. Aroma is peach, citrus, wheat. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, good balance of sweet and sour. Taste is lemon, wheat, basil. Tasty.

bottle pours hazy gold with an ample white head. Nose is very aromatic with the basil. Taste has an underlying sweetness that molds well with the basil and some other flowers. Body is slightly creamy but full.

Draft at Moriartys. Tulip. Hazy light orange pour with just a thin fizzy ring. Dryer grassy Tripel than most. Tangerines. Pineapples. Fresh grass. Wildflower honey. Celery hearts. Palm fronds. Can also easily taste the influence of both the rice and the Thai basil. Like a basil infused sake was added to the mix. Still actually works as a proper Tripel. Style of its own.

Draft at Sweetgrass. Cloudy golden pour with a fluffy white head. Spicy, herbal aroma with banana esters and sweet maltiness. Similar sweet estery flavor, but the basil and herbs tend to shine through more with a moderately carbonated body. Pretty tasty.

750ml Bottle @ Earl of Essex 2013/4/17 Lots of brett here there and everywhere. Got the basil. Dry as you would expect. Impressive but not to my taste.
