Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy red color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of red wine notes with light vinegar with sour grapes notes. Taste is dominated by tart notes from the grapes with some oak and some vinous notes with light residual sugar at the end. Acidity level is well balanced. There are also some funky notes which work more or less well with the rest of the mix. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Average sour available for a non-average price.

bottle shared by tom 10101, thanks! pours clear dark copper with a very small light beige head, little retention. acetic and dusty grapes, also grapes’ skin, tannins. very few spices, peppery and spicy notes, cough syrup. soft carbonation to almost flat, light body - somewhat syrupy, short and sharp acetic and grassy-spicy finish. relatively complex, more than decent offering but not totally enjoyable. abv very well hidden though.

Bottle (750 ml). Thanks to SourNotes for this one! Deep amber with almost no head and no lacing. Aroma is acetic (as most The Bruery Sours I’ve tried) with grapes, red fruits, oak, winey notes and some spices. Taste is winey and acetic with grapes, red fruits and oak. Mouthfeel is dry, mouth-puckering and winey. Alcohol is really well hidden! Not bad, but a tad too acetic to be really enjoyable/drinkable. I liked it though.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 DocJitsu (307) - California, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Pours a lifeless, nearly opaque, dark root beer brown color, with nearly no head at all. A very thin cap of nitrogen-infused-like head appears just before it goes away for good. It’s quite unattractive. The aroma is comprised by a little date in the background and tart chardonnay in the foreground. The mouthfeel is wet up front, with medium body, but finishes a little dry. The flavor is very tart and causes the palate to long for something sweet for balance. There’s no disguising the wine grapes used in making this beer. It finishes pretty cleanly.

9th June 2012 Dark brown - red beer. Small off white head. Cream and sour fruit on the nose. Dry airy palate. Tart sour fruits - raspberry. Sour red wine. No real barrel smoothness here! Finishes semi dry and tart. A bit much with tartness.
