COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The primary component of our “White Oak” ale is a 100% barrel aged wheat wine that we affectionately refer to as “White Oak Sap.” Essentially a “summer” barley-wine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, White Oak Sap is aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year and comes out rich in flavors of coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla. To compliment the already rich flavors of the beer, we’ve added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolate…hence the name.

Orange glowing, no head. Sweet peach, wood, sticky, raisins. But mostly white chocolate. Light sweetness, honey, apricots, sharp bitter notes. But again, tastes like white chocolate. Bizarre. Heavy alcoholic. Okay, rich aroma, but boozy as hell. (ZeeBra)

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2013 Bottle @ zeebra. Aroma is, well, white chocolate, buttery and creamy with a coat of bourbon. Flavour is huge creamy buttery white chocolate alcohol madness. Wow. This is actual white chocolate.

Bottle, head dissipated quickly. Best way to describe the aroma is sour butter and wheat. Smells like dough. No lacing, wheat beer hefe coloring. Maybe darker. Holy hell, you would never expect that taste of it didn?t say white chocolate on the bottle.I feel like I got kicked in the mouth with an army boot made of chocolate. The aftertaste even gives me the flavors of a Hersheys white chocolate cookies and cream. Although the carbonation looks for, it?s still presently present. This only lost points in appearance and aroma. At 14.25% this is pushing not beer lol. Very happy with this. It was a trade for a hunahpu. After further drinking, the white chocolate flavor backed off and I’m getting orange and bourbon flavors. Really surprising beer.

Bottle from trade. White wax top. Pours cloudy yellow-orange with a small head that dissapates quickly. Unique aroma of sour butter, bread dough, yeast, wheat, hints of spice, a bit of campfire. Low to medium carbonation. Flavor is astringent alcohol but not bad. White chocolate and citrus, maple syrup maybe, with an alcohol finish that stings. Almost like a white chocolate rum, but the citrus and syrup flavors balance this out. Medium to heavy syrup mouthfeel. Neat beer!

pours a slightly hazy pale yellow with a medium white head. aroma has orange and vanilla. flavor has orange up front with vanilla and mild bourbon...almost a mild nuttiness and earthy bitterness...very complex but a bit muddled...a bit like a boozy creamsilcle. mouthfeel is light and the finish is lightly white chocolatey and boozy.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow white with thin off white head. The aroma is a very pungent white chocolate and cake. Medium mouthfeel with the taste not matching as well as the aroma with light vanilla flavor and very sweet finish. Hides alcohol very well, making it easy to drink, a very unique barley wine from The Bruery.

Hmmm...Not at all what I was expecting, but a pretty nice beer! Shared with friends. Pour is a very hazy gold, with an vanishing head and OK lacing. Aroma is big coconut, vanilla, and chocolate, with a nice amount of barrel character; Brown sugar, vanillin, booze. All in all, I would say that the aroma lives up to the name more than the tastes. Flavor is more heavy vanilla, light sweet milk chocolate, some brown sugar, maple syrup, barrel booze character. Light hops as well, not present in the aroma. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. Up there in the list of RS beers that I have consumed over the past few years, falling a bit behind sour in the rye and a few others.
