COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The primary component of our “White Oak” ale is a 100% barrel aged wheat wine that we affectionately refer to as “White Oak Sap.” Essentially a “summer” barley-wine style ale, but made with a wheat heavy grain base, White Oak Sap is aged in used bourbon barrels for nearly a year and comes out rich in flavors of coconut, honey, caramel and vanilla. To compliment the already rich flavors of the beer, we’ve added cacao nibs and vanilla beans to give this beer the delicate flavor of white chocolate…hence the name.

Bottle, hazy yellow copper pour, aroma of shortbread, pecan pie, vanilla. Taste - slight sour, oak, mild sweetness which is surprising given the aroma, sight vanilla finish. The aroma says dessert beer but I don’t get that in the taste at all. This is the 2013 vintage, so yea it’s supposedly somewhat infected however I am still enjoying this it’s just different then what I expected.

Bottle - Boozy white chocolate, coconut, caramel and nuts. Praline. Cloudy copper with a thin white head. Tastes like it smells with a boozy bourbon barrel finish. Great for a few ounces, but too much for a whole glass.

Love this I have had it several times and have loved it each time. Somewhat boozy but at the abv it isn't surprising. Mouthfeel was the only thing lacking for me.

Caramel orange in color... Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, caramel sweetness... Flavor is caramel, vanilla, chocolate... Does taste a little like white chocolate, but does definitely have a fair amount of tartness throughout... Not terribly unpleasant, infection prolly got tamed down by the abv... Solid, but was expecting more ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2012 Vintage. White waxed bottle. Poured an amber color with a smaller sized head. Vanilla, chocolate, caramel, bourbon, wood/oak, and lighter coconut. Very easy (too easy) to drink for 14%.

2013 bottle, picked up late this year -- after the infection news broke. Is it infected? I can’t say for sure as I never tried the 2012. It does finish lightly tart, but if you’re a sour beer drinker you wouldn’t really call it sour. I didn’t expect to like this and was impressed. Pours a light orange with a white head ring. Smell is big-time chocolate / white chocolate. Taste gives, you choco backed with fruit and that light tart note. Surprisingly drinkable at almost 15%. It’s a celebration kinda night and this was a great choice. Wanted to age this one but we truly enjoyed it right now.
