COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early summer, this barrel aged wheat wine is coming out very nicely (12% ABV) White Oak is a blended beer-- 50% wheatwine aged in Bourbon barrels (we call it "White Oak Sap"), and 50% Mischief (our Golden Strong Ale). Vivid caramel, coconut and vanilla flavors blanketed in a crisp yet robust wheat ale, White Oak is an exercise of balance.

On tap at Urge. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a one finger white head with some lacing. Aroma and taste is of caramel , vanilla, coconut, cloves, banana, sour fruits. and woody bourbon. Has a medium-full body with a super creamy mouthfeel and a slightly boozy, medium finish. Overall, a very interesting and complex beer that blends multiple styles together nicely.

2013 bottle poured into a Bruery tulip. Odd nose of vanilla, banana, slight shredded coconut, and a bit of sweet bourbon. A cloudy light orange color with a one-inch, long-lasting, fluffy white head. Very sweet and fruity on the first sip, with banana, vanilla, and cookie dough topped by a boozy finish. It tastes somewhat like a bourbon-infused vanilla wafer. A slight tannic note emerges as the beer approaches room temperature. Quite smooth, velvety mouthfeel. A different but thoroughly enjoyable brew.

Ataraxia (170) - Massachusetts, USA - JUN 16, 2013
Deep golden color with a thin off-white head. Pleasantly mild aroma of oak, vanilla, caramel, and spices. The barrel character was not overpowering, but worked well with the other elements. Taste was sharp, spicy, and just the right amount of sweetness. A crisp finish and very drinkable at 12% abv.

Draft at the pour house. Pours hazy orange with a medium sized white head and some carbonation in the glass. The aroma has a lot of sweetness.. The mischief is winning the aroma. There is some citrus, coconut, vanilla. The taste has a bit of vanilla, oak, tartness, coconut, big carbonation.

Bottle, shared with Michelle. Pours with a light haze, orange-gold, white head. Spots of lacing. Big Belgian nose, with candi sugar, citrus hops, sweet vanilla. Opens up after a while, with the bourbon notes shining through: bit of caramel, effervescent mouthfeel. Sticks around. More interesting than anything else, but pretty good.

Rating from 6/11/13. 750 ml bottle, 2013 vintage. Pours cloudy cantaloupe with a large white head with excellent retention; leaves some neat lacework. Aroma is strong in oak, vanilla, caramel, bourbon, toasted coconut. Taste is sweet, savory and a little sour with a touch of bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is creamy, body medium, carbonation average. Super good.

Lots of barrel flavor, easy drinking for 11.5%. Almost candy like sweetness, I probably shouldn’t slam the whole thing.

Draft at Trappeze Pub Athens, GA. Pours an unclear with white head. Taste is bourbon, grape must, light fruity, tropical notes. Almost barrel aged tripel-like. Light palate, but creamy. Quite nice.

Pours cloudy deep amber with a white head that quickly dissipated into a wisp. Aroma is bourbon, wheat, oak, vanilla, floral and earthy. Taste is sweet with some light bitters. Medium bodied, smooth, light carbonation.

750 ml. bottle- Pours hazy golden with a two finger white head. Aroma is very tart, sweet and fruity, apples and papaya, wheat, subtle oak. The taste is sweet vanilla, bourbon, oak, banana, coconut, caramel, very complex and tasty. Body is medium and carbonation is high. Good, more smooth than your average barleywine, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from The Bruery, wonderfully complex!
