Early summer, this barrel aged wheat wine is coming out very nicely (12% ABV) White Oak is a blended beer-- 50% wheatwine aged in Bourbon barrels (we call it "White Oak Sap"), and 50% Mischief (our Golden Strong Ale). Vivid caramel, coconut and vanilla flavors blanketed in a crisp yet robust wheat ale, White Oak is an exercise of balance.

Wonderfully spicy and fruity wheat wine. Flavors are fairly dense and intense especially as it warms up. Alcohol not particularly well hidden, but not overwhelming either. Overall a very nice brew.

Bottle (750 ml). From kbudd19, thanks! Slightly hazy golden medium white head and good lacing. Aroma is kind of soapy with fruity notes, bourbon, Belgium yeast and spices. Taste is moderately sweet with fruity notes, bourbon, soap and spices. Warming alcohol Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Ok Barley Wine (?), but a little strange for the style (more of a Tripel?). Too soapy.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2014 Pour is a hazy golden with a medium white head that leaves great lacing. Some strange particles dance into the glass. Aroma is of alcohol, yellow fruits and spices. Taste is also fruity and spicy. Alcohol warms you a little and mouthfeel is really light. Strange beast, more akin to a tripel than a barleywine in my opinion.

Bottle 750ml. Pours dark blond/light golden with high soapy white head. Good lacing. Aroma is of soap, perfume, fruits. Taste is of soap, fruits, heavy flowers, alcohol, somewhat belgian yeast. Palate: Medium body. Overall: Good. Nice yeast action, but a bit classic. Soapy. Pretty good, but not outstanding.

Had at the BGoA Winter tasting. Pours a golden yellow slightly hazy. Big foamy white head. Slightly wheaty and funky on the nose. Light and oaky. Nice beer.

750 mL bottle from Beer Run. Pours a hazy yellow color with a thin fizzy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of wood, coconut, caramel, vanilla, dry citrus, buttered toast, apple. The taste is caramel, toast, candied fruits, vanilla, toffee, wood, candied apple, citrus. Medium bodied, low carbonation, faintest bit of heat. On the sweet side but decent enough balance. Nice sipper.

Bottle pours clear dark yellow with thick soapy white head. Aroma yeasty with a hint of funk? Taste very sweet with light fruits and citrus, Belgian yeasts, honey. Oak and bourbon really pretty subdued. Palate orange peel. Thick palate. Improves as it warms. Alcohol well hidden.

Better than I expected. This seems to be fairly easy to find so I figured it wasn’t this good. A cross between Belgian ale and barleywine with some aging characteristics thrown in. I like it.

Aged and surprisingly good. Pours fruity with lots of lace, and some head. Some bourbon, it’s significant bourbon and not overwhelming. The vanilla is mid-sip and nice some citrus aftertaste.Dangerously drinkable and smooth.

I really, really love this beer. One of my favorite seasonals by the brewery. Pours a hazy orange yellow, with some head. Aroma is slight tartness from the wine barrels, lots of yeast, bourbon, vanilla, oak. Mouthfeel is creamy, yet frizzly. Taste is huge: orange, vanilla, a bit of white wine tartness, bourbon, wheat, yeast, sweetness. This is absolutely declisiou stuff, and really very unique. Think of a hybrid between a belgian triple, a bourbon barrel aged barleywine, and a white barrel aged wheat beer... Complex, decadent, and just plain fantastic.
