COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early summer, this barrel aged wheat wine is coming out very nicely (12% ABV) White Oak is a blended beer-- 50% wheatwine aged in Bourbon barrels (we call it "White Oak Sap"), and 50% Mischief (our Golden Strong Ale). Vivid caramel, coconut and vanilla flavors blanketed in a crisp yet robust wheat ale, White Oak is an exercise of balance.

2012 bottle poured into a tulip glass. Golden yellow orange color with a huge soapy white head that sticks around. Nose is rich vanilla, coconut, caramel...this thing smells great! Taste is a little hot, the alcohol really burns on this one. A very interesting barley wine. I haven’t had a beer from The Bruery that I didn’t enjoy. Great beer!

From a 2013 750 mL bottle. Pours a fully cloudedgolden brown with an off-white head. Tart apple and bourbony aroma. Apple yeasty tart flavor, some bourbon and oak notes. A little watery overall at this point. Decent.

Visual: Hefty bottle, screams quality. Pours pale dirty brown with a massive super long lasting ultra creamy head, very sticky lacing, clusters upon clusters of fast streams. Feelin’ good about this one. Nose: woody pressed apple juice, hints of white grape juice, a touch of citrus. (lvl-7)-pungency Attack: pressed apple juice Mid-palate: (lvl-5)-sweetness, (MAIN) red apple juice, toffee malt, oak Finish: tingly fizzy-tang, vanilla, soft but compounding alcohol hit, light-med warmth, malty bittersweet finish. Summary: Straight away reminds me of a Belgian blonde; fruity, effervescent, crisp, and alcoholic. Quite skilled to get a wheat ale to behave like this. Fantastic body and character, great drinkability and approachable flavour make this one an interesting brew. Their claim of coconut is more like apple to me. 11.5% ABV, you have been warned.

Bottle share at Evernote. Slightly sour / crisp white wine notes that ultimately build to some pretty intense potpourri / floral notes. Not a fan.

Bottle. Burnt orange with medium, semi-densed, white head, which disappears quickly. Poor lacing. Nice aroma of rotten fruits, cinnamon, vanilla, some cider-like aromas. Taste is semi-sweet, vanilla, light caramel-malty backbone with noticable medium bitter finish. The fruity flavours are not as noticable as the aroma, but still give nice and pleasent sensation. Medium body, medium carbonation, sticky texture, finisj is medium bitter and short. In overall very intersting barley wine not too sweet and pretty well balanced.

Bottle kindly added from bytemesis in a RB/dG trade. Into a stein then tulip. Nose is Pale thick alc wheat vanilla, marshmallow, hit of oak. Sort of strong sharp prick on the nose that i sometimes think of as oxidation, but I’m sure it’s something else. Gah. Taste is bigger vanilla and bourbon with a rather balanced feel for the strength and alc heat. Rather tasty and i want to taste this again in a couple years to see if it grows the depth of flavor.

4/7/15. 2013 bomber. Frothy big white head and a big carb bubble. Golden tan looked with some yeasty haze. Mild nose but wonderfully complex body. Boozy but notes of sour, oak, peat, iron. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thank you gentlefolk! Sampled / shared 750 ml. bottle @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Hazy golden orange, little white head. Nose is sweet bourbon mixed with aspirin, rotting orange peel & sugar, lots of aspirin, bourbon layer behind it, weird. Very fizzy body that doesn’t really work esp. with its touch thicker body. Taste is rotting orange peel, rotting zest, bourbon, fizzy, oddly boozy, touch medicine, vitamins, washing powder, thick, bourbon vanilla in the back, lightly sour as well. Drank about 1/4th wasn’t too easy. More weird than enjoyable, didn’t get this beer at all. I asked if it is supposed to tastes like this, apparently yes. Usually The Bruery is decent but this one baffled me.

750 ml bottle courtesy of skullgeorge. Clear golden orange color with white head. Malty aroma, fruity, orange, wood, some funky notes. Sweet and bitter like aroma with some more alcohol. Medium oily body with soft to average carbonation.

Golden with rich white head. Sweet, bit fruity sour aroma. Sweet (too sweet for me) and rich fruity sour taste. Some bitterness later. Fruity aftertaste.
