COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early summer, this barrel aged wheat wine is coming out very nicely (12% ABV) White Oak is a blended beer-- 50% wheatwine aged in Bourbon barrels (we call it "White Oak Sap"), and 50% Mischief (our Golden Strong Ale). Vivid caramel, coconut and vanilla flavors blanketed in a crisp yet robust wheat ale, White Oak is an exercise of balance.

Unusual beer but very delightful. Strong aroma of chardonnay. Sweet caramel taste, very enjoyable but may be too sweet for some.

Cloudy copper with a white head. Very white head. Smells like bacon or beef jerky. Kinda tastes like that too. Weird. I like that stuff but this is just not what I was expecting in a beer.

Type: 750-ml. bottle (25.4 oz.) Glass: 8-oz. (I think) hotel shaker glass From: Kelly’s Liquors in San Jose, Calif. Price: $14.85 Purchased: April 14, 2016 Consumed: April 15, 2016 Misc.: Bottled on Jan. 21, 2016 at 8:52 a.m. PT Had a taster of this on Feb. 12, 2016 and gave it a 3.75 on Untappd. Did not stop me from buying this at a random liquor store in San Jose, Calif. Bottled reads “50% wheatwine-style ale aged in bourbon barrels 50% ale.” Looking forward to a patient full review of this while stuck in a hotel. Poured this a bit too cold. Poured a honey, pale, clear color with two fingers of off-white, fizzy head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Below average spotty lacing on the sides of the glass. Below average retention on the top. (Sight - 3.50) Smelled caramel, vanilla and smooth bourbon in order to start. Also honey, toffee, somewhat boozy, coconut sunscreen, apple, pear, green grapes, hints of apricot and oak. (Smell - 4.00) Taste kind of followed the nose. Getting smooth vanilla, bourbon, apple, pear, green grapes, honey wheat, coconut, rather boozy, still getting slight apricot and oaky vanilla beans. (Taste - 3.75) Medium body. Creamy-to-sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.00) Was hoping this would be better than the taster from February, but came about what to I originally had it. Still liked it though. (Overall - 3.75) 3.82 86 B+

Honey colored pour with a white head. Spotty lacing. Aroma is candied fruit, vanilla, spice, and some booze. Taste is vanilla, overripe pineapple, caramel, and some wood. On the sweeter side. Medium body.

Tap at Kool Keg. Slightly hazy amber color. Gentle white head. Interesting aroma. Vanilla and oak for sure. Bourbon can be picked up, with an odd mix of sweet and toasted notes. Flavor is fairly sweet, chocolate and vanilla notes. Wood and bourbon. Dry toasted notes with coconut? Almost a touch sour, but not quite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a light orange color with a fruit aroma. Taste is citrus, vanilla, and a light floral flavor throughout the beer. The alcohol is very evident in the aftertaste. I faintly could taste the sweetness of the caramel on the palate after the swallow. A dry finish to this beer with an alcohol content that hits you once the glass is dry.

On tap at Antenna America though they also had it in bottles. The Bruery White Oak 11.5% BA 650 yen for a snifter and this beer knocked me on my ass. Anyways, it poured a beautiful orange gold with a thin head of beige foam. Huge wine plum and rich fruity malt aroma. Fairly full bodied, the flavor is richly oaky vanilla goodness.with notes of fruits (plums/raisins), caramel, oak and chewy wheat. Good stuff.

Pours a bright rust orange with thick white head. A citrus and oaky aroma. A complex but excellent beer with a mix of flavors: wheat, yeast, caramel, citrus, malts, dark alcohol, and other fruits. A dry and alcohol aftertaste.
