Early summer, this barrel aged wheat wine is coming out very nicely (12% ABV) White Oak is a blended beer-- 50% wheatwine aged in Bourbon barrels (we call it "White Oak Sap"), and 50% Mischief (our Golden Strong Ale). Vivid caramel, coconut and vanilla flavors blanketed in a crisp yet robust wheat ale, White Oak is an exercise of balance.

On tap at the Bruery; cloudy yellow color. Flavor was a bit of a miss and somewhat weird. Definitely boozy, with some good complexity. A bit of a bandaid element. Ok.

750ml bottle. Clear cognac colour, with small, forthy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Woody, oaky aroma, hints of vanilla, a nuttily touch, hazelnut, nougat, some coconut as well. Taste is all along this line, good balance of rather subtle flavours, a slight predominance of oak.

It pours golden-orange with a moderate off white head. The clarity is a bit hazy but clears up quite a bit as it warms. It has strong malt aromas with orange, caramel, wheat, and low aromas of oak and bourbon. It has a rich malt, sweet flavor. It is highlighted by caramel, honey, orange, oak, bourbon, and alcohol. The overall balance is towards the malt. It has a heavy body, not quite chewy, with a moderately high bitterness. It is fairly smooth in spite of the high alcohol content There is also a fair amount of alcohol warming. Overall, this is a malty rich balance beer with a complex blend of fruits that packs a solid alcohol punch, but is fairly smooth.

On tap @ Ginger Man. A cloudy deep dark golden almost honey colored one with a small but lasting light sidesticking off-white top. It has a nose of wood, white wine, caramel and lots of fruity zest. Impressive in a strange way. More white wine in the taste. Lots of grapes, the Green kind. It has a above average carbonation level and a nice thick oily mouthfeel. Some alcohol, quite warming and suiting. Oaky dryness in the mouth. Zesty, some minty hints, herbal. Really packed with flavors. Ends with a hint of acidity on the tongue. A really nice beer. 19.06.2013

Nice to see the bruery distribute now in Rochester. Orangish brown pour. Aromas of oak, apricot, orange marmalade, biscuit. Warming. A bit cloying, but otherwise decent.
