(pint at brewpub) reddish brown (dark for an alt). Aroma of grainy/caramel malt. Bready malt flavor. I like the fact that Civil Life has a nice variety of session beers, but not sure I’d have guessed this was an alt.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 adnielsen (6216) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Tap @ The Civil Life. Pours a clear, deep reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Rich caramel, thick malty, toffee, a bit herbal nose. A touch fruity, pretty well balanced sweetness, goopy caramel, toasty malty flavor. Some fruity elements as well. Pretty good brew.

On tap at The Civil Life. Pours a medium brown color with white head. Caramel, bready, malty flavors. Pretty nice alt.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Strykzone (3816) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - NOV 14, 2012
Sampled at an esbls tasting. Clear red brown. No head. This is grainy and resiny. Big barley and rye notes. A little thin but not bad at all.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 jandd1983 (1578) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - OCT 16, 2012
It poured a crystal clear, dark reddish brown color with an off-white head. The aroma was a nice crisp and balanced nose with some cereal and a little grassy hoppiness. The taste was about typical for a good alt; toasty, bready, a bit sweet from the chocolate and fruitiness. Very tasty.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 vyvvy (3268) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - OCT 8, 2012
Pours brown with a reddish hue and a thick soapy head. The aroma has berries, caramel, toast, cream and sweetness. It has a medium crisp body with a moderate amount of carbonation. The flavor begins with toasty malt, woodiness, berries, floral aspects and some spice. The finish has more fruitiness, perfume hops, dry crackers, bready malt and a trailing bit of toffee and caramel. Interesting take on an alt. Another well done beer by Civil Life.
