COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American Pale Ales hold a special place in the Halls o’ Beerdom. They mark a definitive break from Euro-stylings, materials, and ratios. And, despite their obvious breaks from ye Ole Tradition they have somehow managed to become a Traditional Ale themselves. APA’s shine with 2-Row malt, a dash of caramel, and a generous handful of American "C" hop. This APA runs a smooth 5% with Cascade’s waving the Hop Flag and singing MY PINT TIS OF THEE! GREAT MALT OF LIBERTY! OF THEE I DRINK!

Had this at their tap room in saint Louis Fall 2012. Everything I tasted was good to great. Pours deep amber. Medium body. Grass. Orange. Nice balance.

On cask at Civil Life. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a nice white head. Aroma is malt and mild hop flowers. Taste is sweet pale malt and a smooth crispness. Slight hoppiness after the swallow. Well balanced.

Sampled at the 2013 Heritage Festival. It poured a bright golden color with a small white head. The aroma was of bread and biscuits with some floral and pine hops. The taste was of dry bread with a touch of caramel sweetness and a crisp pine/floral hop profile. There was some bitterness that lingers for a while. Very nice.

Tasted on tap at the brewpub, in a nonic half pint glass. It poured a light golden amber colour with some chill haze, sudsy white foam and a little lace. True to style APA aromas and flavors: malty sweet with hints of caramel, biscuits, toast, citrusy (but not overwhelmingly grapefruity) hops. Crisper than more popular examples, which tend to be kinda mushy. Nicely balanced and nuanced, doesn’t feel the need to slap you in the face with any one aspect. Light-medium body, average carbonation, lasting tangy, grainy aftertaste. Very nice.

Pint at ITAP Soulard. This was after a rugged bike ride and hit the spot nicely. It was a bit coppery with a decent head that left light lacing. Citrus aromas and flavors wete just right. Some bready yeast in both, too. Avstedy and solid malt backbone allowed the citrus to shine but added sweetness and smoothness. This was a solid APA.

Half pint at the brewery. Pours a mostly clear, deep golden-orange color with a finger of resilient off-white head that laces the glass and settles unevenly. Aroma of leafy, grassy hops, orange citrus, and sweet, pale and toasty malts. The flavor is an absolutely smooth, balanced, crisp, and fresh slate of those notes- a good mix of malts, hops, and citrus. Light-medium bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation. Very good APA.

Pours deep amber with a soapy tan head. The aroma has lots of citrusy hops along with floral and frutiness. There is a nice caramel malt balance. Medium / light body that’s a bit tiny and has a bit less carbonation than normal. The flavor starts with spicy hops with some citrus and pine. The milt is quite dry and crackery and doesn’t have the caramel aspect of the aroma. The finish has a bit more malt and a bit of a hoppy bright mintiness. Nice APA.
