What more can be said about this beer that hasnít already been tweeted about? Well, if youíve been living on Mars then you donít know that this beer is Named after the Mighty Carl, Patron Saint of many STL bars, and will only be on planet Earth for a short time. The beer itself was brewed as a HellesBock which is simply a lighter colored, hoppyish-lager that is brewed to a stronger strength (Bock). The Man himself is much harder to describe. Some would say Charming. Some would say Handsome and Debonair. Some would even claim him to be Charitable, Friendly and Trustworthy. Who are these people? #thanksforpaintingandtuckpointingourentirebuildingcarl.

On tap at Shamrocks. Served a deep copper color with a small head and just bits of lacing. Aroma is mild with roasted malt, bit of grain and spice. Taste follows with a mild roasted malt, mix of caramel and bit of honey. Has a easy bitterness and dry finish. Fairly medium body, subtle crispness, smooth and nicely balanced. Good beer for the style.

On tap at Civil Life. Pours a hazy dark gold with a nice off white head. Soft caramel aroma. Sweet caramel malt flavor along with a little bread dough. Soft mild hoppiness at the finish, mapley. Excellent.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2014 Tasted on tap at the brewery on Fatherís Day/Bloomsday. It poured a nice clear golden amber colour with white foam, lasting with lace. Crisp grains with slight residual sweetness, fruit, toast. Light body, medium carbonation, surprisingly well-rounded bready mouthfeel with a mineral essence, with a crisp lager finish. Smooth and refreshing, an excellent example of style. If your experience of bockbier is AmberBock or Shiner Bock, thisíll blow your mind.

On Tap at ITAP in Chesterfield. It poured an amber color with a small white head. The aroma was of sweet medium malt-caramel with some spice hops. The taste was sweet medium malt-honey/caramel and some secondary spice hops. It had a syrupy medium body. Well done and dead on for style.

Donít like lagers. Dislike the sweet second half of the flavor. Week palate for a lager

Draft at the bridge. Pours golden with a thin white head. Not much on the nose. Iíd be really concerned if there was. Dry crisp taste. Fairly thin mouthfeel. Nice beer to start your evening with.

Pours a hazed orange-hued gold color with a tiny white ring and small rising carbonation bubbles. Aroma of straw, sweet malts, toasted sugar, cereal grains, and grass. Flavor of straw, crackers, sweet malts, cereal, grass, honey, and a hint of spice. Medium-bodied, with a malty, smooth mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Dry finish. Very solid heller bock.

Pour clear golden brown with and off-white head. The aroma has mild toasty malt, some sweetness, light dough and an overall cleanness to it. Medium / full slick body thatís a bit sticky and has mild soft carbonation. The flavor stars with sweet doughy malt with a touch of toast and some syrup. There is also a lot of the lager smooth maltiness to it. The finish adds some spiciness and a touch of hops to dry it a touch, but it is still very much on the sweet malty side. This is good for the style, but Iím not a big bock guy.

Draft at ITAP Soulard. Pint. Pour is cinnamon hued and clear. Not much of a head. The nose had a nice little hop effect to it and some spice. Nice. Flavors are very pleasant. Hops are fruity and work well here. Some cinnamon and nutmeg spices. The finish brought out more fruit. This was solid. Glad I got to try a pint.

Draught at Bridge. Orange body. Fruity aroma and taste. Really shines. Little carbonation in pour. Bit of grape in there as well. Very nice.
