Black. Not too much head. Sweet. Quite roasted. Coffee. Fairly heavy. Kind of hard to drink.

A bit thin for a stout, but still well bodied. Pour was pitch black with tiny caramels where the light breaks through the corners. Dark caramel and chocolate flavors, but a bit too much smoke leaning towards a porter. Flavor has a bit of toffee.

Had this at their tap room in saint Louis Fall 2012. Everything I tasted was good to great. This was too sweet. Some chocolate and mild roast.

It smelled of chocolate and some sweetness.
Good cocoa taste with some creamy sweetness. A very light bitterness. Also, a very very light aftertaste of mint.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
On tap at The Civil Life. Pours a black color color with white head. Roasty, light coffee, chocolate flavor. I donít get a lot of milk in this one. The Oatmeal Stout is better.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. Comes a very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, and cream. Taste is exactly the same. Rich and creamy. Would be easy to drink several of these.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
It poured a near black color with a brown head. The aroma was some sweet chocolate with dark grains and light roasted malts. The taste was similar with milk chocolate and dark grains and a hint of earthy roasted malts in the finish. Very tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2013 Tasted on tap at the Royale. It poured an opaque dark brown color with weak tan head, no lace. Tart and VERY toasty with a nice grassy bite and a little mineral hardness. Subtle citrusy hops in flavor but none in the aroma. Hints of English fruity ale yeast esters. Low-alcohol but with medium body, some residual lactose sweetness, slightly spritzy carbonation, "digestive." Good, easy-drinking.
UPDATE: tasted again last night at brewpub. Even tastier and more complex than I remember!
