Picked up a 750 of this at Bier Thirty in Bown last week for a very reasonable $13ish... Pours with a short lasting white head... the brew is very pretty, slightly hazed dark pink, almost purple hue. The tannic and tart currants are more than present... lactic without being overdone... the berries are the big player... donít think this saw any time in wood, instead it just lets the bugs and the currants play... I really like this one, simple but not a "training wheels" sour... Light bodied with plenty of carbonation makes this one finish pretty fast.. I wish Boise saw a more than a couple of cases.

Bottle, RBAG 2014 prelim. Cloudy purple-pink, generous white head. Aroma is very funky with berry undertones. Tart bordering on sour, lots of funk, berry skins. Light and refreshing.

Bottle - Sour and black currants with some earthy notes. Pinky orange with a thin head. Tart acidic berries and a long vinnegar finish. My teeth are squeaking.

Pours a pinkish red hue with a large white head. A big yeasty and fruity nose. The flavor is more slightly tart berries, sweet fruit, yeast, dust. More sour in the finish. Quite good.

Tasting at Mattís
Cloudy reddish color, with a small foam crown. The aroma is interesting, the black currant is evident, nice sourness too, moldy cellar. Dry mouthfeel, very tart, fruity (raspberry), lemony. The final is a bit too simple.
Nice.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy pinkish orange with a small white head. Aroma is very yogurty, with loads of lacto and maybe a subtle touch of black currants. Flavour brings out lots of lacto, toasted nuts, and black currants. Tartness is pretty subtle, but well-situated. The lacto is used really well here. Highly drinkable and very milky. Great stuff.

Picked up at The Commons on the bottle release date, 4/19/2014. Great barnyard-y, cheese cave scent with a nice fruity sour flavor and a relatively creamy body. This one really tastes great this year!

Bottle pour at WTF poured a clear garnet with a lingering ring of pink foam. Aromas of straw, currants and light funk. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry tart finish. Flavors of currants, straw and light funk with a crisp dry tart lingering currant finish.

Bottle, assumedly 2013, drunk 3/15/14
Pinot noir-like color, very cool looking with a small, fairly poorly retained head and moderate clarity.
I gotta say, I can see all of the mediocre or slightly above average scores on this one and I actually understand it. This one is not bursting with sourness, nor is it full of juicy black currants. The flavors are pretty near bone-dry and the black currant flavor is borderline astringent. BUT, the tight carbonation is engaging and lends a light creaminess to the body. The heavy lactic presence softens things and the fruit flavor adds no sweetness.
So why do I like it? Itís basically like a session sour. Reserved and understated, with just enough currant tartness to cleanse the palate on the end. Low alcohol relative to the style and right on the bottom of the threshhold for dryness without being overattenuated/tannic/astringent. Or so I think.
