COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed predominantly with organic 2- row, the malt bill is rounded out with organic light munich, organic 60L crystal and caravienna. Northwest Golding and Hallertauer hops provide a pleasant hop character. Right out of primary fermentation this beer is decidedly an American Pale Ale, but as it enters secondary, a bridge to Belgium is built with a dose of Brettanomyces Bruxellensis. A 5 week maturation results in slightly dry, fruity beer with a hint of floral Brett character that will evolve over time.

Bottle. Was lucky to pick up a few of these, this is the 3rd of 4. Itís a banger! Pours a very transparent orange/copper with just a touch of head. Beautiful, complex nose -- mild brett b phenolic funk, some caramel malt, light touch of hops. Taste adds a little dried fruit, floral notes, some barnyard, other goodness I canít put my finger on. Finishes fairly clean and dry with some light lingering brett. I could drink this every week!

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Tart and bretty aroma. Brett and tart flavor with light fruitiness. Medium bodied. Brett and spice linger with light lemon and light red fruit.

Lively bottle, starts foaming immediately upon opening. Yeast sediment leaves brown deposits on the foam. As a result yeast is very evident in the aroma and taste. Milky amber body with small creamy off white head. Complex aroma of yeast, wine barrel, white grapes. Taste is yeast first and foremost, followed by sour grapes. Short finish.

In short: An over-carbonated citrusy-hoppy pale ale dominated by barnyard-dirty-brett. Good beer overall.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed a few months after purchase. (bottle at 6.2%, currently listed here at 5.7%)
The look: Cloudy dirty-orange body topped by a large off-white head with good retention.
In long: The relatively strong nose is dirty-funky (barnyard, stinky feet, horse blanket) along with fruity notes. The fruity notes in the aroma are obviously hop-related but if I didnít know this is a brett hoppy ale I would not have guessed it. In mouth the beer explodes on the tongue, extra-high carbonation level, a lot of hard bubbles, a bit too carbonated for its own good and it lowers the drinkability. Taste is toasted hay, candied bitter orange peels, a whole lot of brett, citrusy hops. Finish is relatively dry with a citric-citrusy bitterness with the citric acidity amplified by the aggressive carbonation. Knowing how the Flemish speaking people hate the French speaking people, Iím pretty sure an actual Flemish Kiss is a kiss without the tongues touching.

750ml bottle pours hazy toasted orange with 2 finger head. Nose is bright fruity brett citrus, orange, light doughy grain, tiny bit of tart funk. Taste is bretty citrus, orange, sourdough, grains. Finish is dry with just a hint of tartness, earthy light bread, fruity brett, dry hay. Awesome!

At the Commons with Taylor, Stephen, and Dina. Pours orange hazy no head. Aroma is acidic medicinal cherry tart. Taste is weird lightly tart fake cherry sauce. Thin, and not very good.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain / crackers), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), moderately yeasty (barnyard, horseblanket), with notes of Meyer lemon, lime zest, nectarine, spearmint gum, kumquat, plastic. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly saccharine. Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Another impressive brew from The Commons...wish Iíd discovered them earlier in the trip so I could have explored them more, but thankfully I at least had enough time to try three saison-ish style brews, and remarkably theyíre all quite nice. They do have a bit of saccharine-like sweetness in the finish, which is the only annoyance, but otherwise these seem to be lovingly created and far more to-style/authentic than most American breweries achieve. Very close to a 4+ winner.

Hazy peachy-tan. Apricotty, peachy, bretty, dry, fresh fruity, complex. Tasty. Crisp and dry. Touch of hops.

P: Murky amber with a one finger white head. S: Very earthy, wood, flowers and some cereal malt. T: Some earthy flavors, light green apples, with a clean and dry finish, M: Light with sparkling carbonation. O: Hard to pick up what is going on this beer when there is very little going on here. However, it is easy to drink (or easy to pound).
