COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed predominantly with organic 2- row, the malt bill is rounded out with organic light munich, organic 60L crystal and caravienna. Northwest Golding and Hallertauer hops provide a pleasant hop character. Right out of primary fermentation this beer is decidedly an American Pale Ale, but as it enters secondary, a bridge to Belgium is built with a dose of Brettanomyces Bruxellensis. A 5 week maturation results in slightly dry, fruity beer with a hint of floral Brett character that will evolve over time.

Sample courtesy of Billy Dregs at the Prohibition Pig. Pours amber with light to medium fluffy white head. Notes of funky yeast, cherry and other dark fruit, biscuit malt, tangerine, hibiscus, and white vino. Body was light, mouthfeel was somewhat thin but worked well. Glad I got to try something from these guys.

Bottle courtesy of BrainLair. Pours a slightly hazy orange with a fluffy light tan head. Sweet fruity aroma with a bit of grassy citrusy funk. Flavor is moderately sweet with lots of tangerines. Dry finish with a bit of oak and white wine. Slight tartness. Nice beer.

My Bottom Line:
Brettanomyces and citrusy hops coexist nicely in this dryish Wild Pale Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the cloudy pale amber.
-The aroma was unexpectedly timid.
-This brew grew on me with every sip though.
-Drinkability is quite high.
-Mouthfeel was soft; this is not one of those super effervescent Wild Ales.

On tap at the Commons. A: Reddened copper with a minimal head. Expected a bit more out of this of the tap. N: Cherry, brett, biscuit, raspberry, and dried cranberry. Excellent red fruit scents here. T: Bit of a letdown after the nose. Straight forward biscuit and a drying yeast. Pine and earth are present from the hops. Very well balanced. Thereís a slight lemon zest. Very bready. The brettanomyces are subdued at the moment. M: Light on the tongue, though it can tend towards oiliness. O: A very solid beer thatís quite quaffable and which ought to get better as the yeast prevails. I think this is mischaracterized as a wild ale, It has some elements, but itís closer to a wild saison or a Belgian Pale Ale (thatís red.)

Bottle shared at the November 2012 Santa Cruz tasting. Aroma is phenolic and fruity with a bizarre sweet pickle note throughout. Pale malty flavor, extremely dry finish, slight acetic notes, mildly fruity.

Sampled at GABF. Pours a hazy orange with some eggshell head. Nose of mustard seeds, bitter greens, vinegar. Flavor is a little sweeter than the nose lets on, earthy, collard greens, light vinegar, lemon. Lightly watery finish. Good nose but the flavor is a let down.

750 ml bottle. Pours a murky copper color with large retentive head. Light citrus and malt aromas with a touch of horse/rubber/brett. Definite barnyard/brett flavor up front with nice IPA notes following. Interesting.
