bastarda (172) - Freiburg, GERMANY - MAY 24, 2015
aromas of citrus, icing sugar, lemon cake and metal; a lot of thin lemonade in taste, with a weird mix of liquorice, tartness, lemon hops; didn’t taste any elderflowers

Light orange, big white head that falls down quite fast. Smell of hay, yeast esters, spices, clove, light malts and flour. Light sweet, floral, fruity, spicy, moderate bitter. A bit dull maybe? Still quite drinkable

Another 6-way split. Dull ochre body, off white head. Sweet malty/appley aroma. Not again... Sweet rotten apple taste vs. nice green apple notes. Sweeter than the urban farmhouse. No real rosehip or elderflower taste. Just ordinary.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge Convention 2015. Thanks to the Sarkinator Pours hazy yellow with a fluffy white head. Yeasty, with plenty of pale bread, wheat, lemon. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Sweet finish with notes of sugary wheat, dough, slightly rindy lemon. A bit basic overall.

Bottle... Pours clear and yellow with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. To me, the aroma seems to feature fennel and lemongrass, but knowing this beer contains neither of those herbs, it must be either the elderflower or the rosehips or both. I don’t know. I’ve never smelled an elderflower and I don’t eat or drink anything containing rosehips. Anyway, this brew is full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is tart, herbal and spicy up front; then bready and tangy on the backside. Bottle courtesy of 50belair!

Hazy gold beer, big fluffy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and a bit over carbonated. Semi dry and a little crispy. Sweetish floralness. Light Hibiscus led fruits. Finishes airy and tangy with a little banana ester coming in. Decent but not turning cartwheels here.
