White Farmhouse Ale with Rosehips & Elderflower

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a cloudy lemon with lively carbonation and fizzy white head that dissipates quickly and completely. Smells mildly tart and funky with a nicely balanced floral presence. Tastes like it smells, but more tart and floral, and mildly bitter. Still well-balanced though. Some yeast on the back of the tongue as well. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and pleasantly lively. A good take on the style.

750mL bottle, undated (FROWN), from Downtown Spirits, drunk 11/6/15.
Lustrous white golden liquid is highly carbonated and sparklingly clear, leaving the moderate amount of sediment behind. White head atop is large and slowly recedes to cover.
All sorts of herbs and spices in the nose. Elderflower certainly the most prominent but I also get a big coriander-like quality, with white pepper, soft lavender and lemon oil notes also in the mix. No wild yeast/bacteria, which is kind of refreshing, as I thought for sure that would be in this. Instead, you have angel food cake-like malt notes, with moderate fruitiness (papaya, mango, very light pineapple) and a good deal of bubble gum lingering. No alcohol or flaws.
White farmhouse ale can certainly encompass a lot of different things, but this comes off to me mostly as a Belgian Wit. There’s the bubble gum character, prominent lemony-citrus notes and healthy dose of coriander-like dryness. A little more poignancy added from the rosehips and the elderflower adds both earthy and peppery qualities. Ample, natural carbonation (a bit fizzy at times), a very soft, even oily, texture with chewy wheat notes (actually spelt) and moderate pale malt sweetness. Very interesting, drinkable, well-done beer (not overdone on the spicing). I think most people are expecting a wild ride out of this when I’m guessing that’s not the intention here at all.

Wow this beer is underrated. Pale color with frothy white head. Aroma is floral, pear, lemon, pepper, and light banana. Taste is dry lightly citrus tartness, mild fruity sweet. Palate is thin and a bit under carbonated.

(750ml bottle) cloudy medium gold/white, fine white bubbles. Nose of elderflower, saison yeast, slightly chalky, reminds me of a witbier. Taste of witbier, clean yeast, elderflower, low carbonation but a nice refreshing beer.

Bottle at WTWBA 2015 in Minneapolis. Hazy yellow pour. Floral, light lemon, funky, and dry. This was awesome.

750ml, split with my mom. Probably the first of my nerd beers that she’s actually enjoyed, so that’s a big plus in my book. Hazy gold pour with white head. Light and floral. Unobtrusive Belgian esters, short dry finish with hints of pepper and mineral. Overall: this is an excellent table saison; will drink again.

Slightly cloudy straw yellow. Floral nose, slightly perfumy, some light lemon. Light wheat flavor, with some light lemon citrus, and floral elements. Not complex, but a nice little beer here for a summer evening.

Opaque light gold, strong white head. Sweet blossom aroma, with a clear elderflower hint. Sweet with sour notes and very noteable honey blossom nuances. Finishes a bit sour and very flowery. Lovely.

750, capped. Pours a very slightly hazy medium gold with a surging fizzy white head that settles gracefully to a slim layer of foamy white. Nice floral notes on the nose, plenty of chamomile and maybe a bit of verbena. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Chamomile and soft verbena on the mid palate, joined by pleasant soft white peppery notes and a bit of mineral in the finish. Lovely beer and worth repeats.

Sampled at Midwest Belgian Beer Fest 2015 - Pours pale light yellow with a white head. The aroma has white wine, woody, stone fruit and pale malt. It has a medium / light body with a very soft feel. It starts off with powder, white grapes, what and light herbs. The finish is gentle and delightful. A winner here.
