1.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 Gerbeer (854) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 11, 2013
750 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with full head. Aromas of lavender and other rose like floral scents. Tastes like soap. Yuck, the aroma should have given this away - why would I want to taste something that smells like my grandmothers bathing salts? Uncommon for the Commons.

04.21.2013 750ml bottle
Pours a dark purple with a quickly dying thick lace. Spicy lavender nose. Front of the palette is blasted by tea spices finished
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 davey101 (490) - Connecticut, USA - APR 20, 2013
750 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Thanks bstyle!
A - Pours a dark and murky brown color. Three fingers of mocha foam forms and fizzles away like any soured/infected stout I have encountered. I hate to draw this comparison since I’ll be using it in the aroma and taste category....but cola. This look like a god damn glass of Coke.
S - This has that distinct cola like aroma to it, which is followed by herbs, flowers, and some peppercorn. Not bad, in fact its almost nice. Just not what I was expecting at all.
T - Coke with Flowers. What is going on!? It even has some cola-like twang to it. Finishes again with peppers, lavender, and hibiscus. It was a bit much at first but letting it sit for a while really smooths it out. Good, but very different.
M - Oddly enough, NOT cola like. Light carbonation and a thin to medium body.
O - This was a very unusual concept. I’m sure its just my taste buds here, but this was like a Coke variety featuring flowers and herbs. I’m struggling to finish the bottle but it is certainly worth the try considering how unique it us.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ericdevin (234) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - APR 19, 2013
Bottle at 16 Tons Taphouse. Pours very dark, slight tan head. Aroma is brash, funky and yeasty, with a good dose of stone fruit (plums) and some herbal notes, too, especially the lavender. Body is very lively as befitts the style, finish is slightly abrupt taste-wise, but the chamomile stays in your mouth like a tea would, some hibiscus as well, perhaps. Lots of yeast chunks in the bottom. Wouldn’t want to drink the whole bottle myself, but very interesting.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 after4ever (5279) - Brier, Washington, USA - APR 17, 2013
750, capped. Pours black with a huge billowing bright tan head. Hugely perfumey nose, very much like potpourri. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Olives and potpourri on the mid palate. Long sweet finish.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 popery (1119) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 12, 2013
Bottle at Beer Revolution. Pours black with a decent beige head that fades quickly. In strong light, I can see some brown, but it’s a surprisingly dark beer and the color doesn’t really show up in the flavor. Very floral aroma. The lavender is nice. Some unfortunate cola. No roast. Taste is oddly sweet and just doesn’t work well. Lots more cola. Less flowers. Just a muddle of odd notes that don’t play nicely. Carbonation is normal, perhaps a little low for a saison. I’m not a fan of this beer. The flower and sweet cola flavors don’t work together. It’s kind of a mess.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 cmonster (895) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 5, 2013
Bottled. Pours near black with a short head. Perfumy herb and spiced aroma that drowns out any saison qualities. Would recomment toning down the foaming hand soap fragrances and reclassify this as a Spice/Herb/Veg. Light sweet flavor. Light-medium body, good carbonation, thin-creamy texture, and a herbal finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 marcus (4999) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 4, 2013
Bottle from Beer Revolution. Pours dark brown with a disappearing tan head and a strong hibiscus aroma. There is a dark malt flavor with a lot of hibiscus and a slightly sour finish. Very unique, but a bit too perfumy.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (8964) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 4, 2013
Bomber shared by Marcus. Pours dark brown with a creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma is very floral with hints of herb and dark malt. Med body. Flavor is hibiscus and lightly earthy dark malt. Quite interesting, tho maybe excessive hibiscus.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ineedbeer (181) - San Leandro, California, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Aroma is dominated by floral notes with lots of chamomile, lavender an a but less hibiscus. A bit one dimensional as the floral character dominates.
Pours a dark brown, almost black color with a thin dark tan head that quickly recedes.
Flavor is very sweet with an odd dark vinous astringent character. Not quite roasty or chocolatey, but more of a cola type flavor. A nice bitterness in the finish but definitely astringent. The floral note dominates in the flavor as well.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium high carbonation. Astringency is moderately high and definitely off putting. Low alcohol warmth.
Overall the aroma has a nice floral character but it is too dominating. The flavor is not good at all though and this beer is very astringent. A waste of $16.
