3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the brewery. Dark brown body with a small off-white head. Moderately roast-forward malty aroma, your typical chocolate / coffee ground / cola with touches of black plum and roast. Maaaaybe some nuttiness from the walnuts but could just as easily be from the malt. Peppercorn phenols and silty / pasty yeast texture. Medium body, medium to low sweetness, moderately bitter for the body. Pretty much what I expected from the house yeast strain fermenting a porter grain bill: malty and yeasty but without a lot of depth.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pint from a growler filled at "b2 Taphouse" in Salem.
I think $13.
Beer is a darker brown colour with a large thick and frothy tan head..that sticks around!
Nice aromas of nuts,Belgian style yeasts, cherries and toasted malt.
Again nice fruity yeasty Belgian accents in the taste..touch of nuts and some sweet black cherry..semi bitter coffee malts in the end
Good mouth feel substantial but not thick and cloying.
Overall likable beer here a good hybrid.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at brewery, Portland. Pours a very dark color, slight amount of tan head. Yeasty nuttiness to the nose, maybe some chocolate notes as well. Body light on tongue, retains crisp easy drinking body of English style porters, with perhaps a bit more funk in the back end. Fine, but not the best the brewery can do.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Calling it a porter almost takes the mystery out of it. almost. there’s a softness to the darkness, and es the sour as the bitter of walnuts. just a percent of roasted malt. no weight, only crisp.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Extremely dark mahogony brown with a thin beige head that dissipates to the edge and leaves light spotting.
Nose is dark malt, nutty tones, sugars, dark fruits.
Taste comprises dark malts, dark toffee, brown sugar, walnut, biscuit bite.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweetish finish.
Ok drinkable affair if a little over sweet.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 1, 2012 Tap @ Grain and Gristle... Poured dark brown, near black with a thin, light tan head. In the middle of the glass it was very dense looking, toward the edges at the bottom it had some clarity. I got some roast and nutty malt here. Sweetness was low and the most defining thing about this beer was the Belgian yeast characters. Dark fruit esters, cloves and other spices. Quite effervescent and paired nicely with food.
