Commercial Description:
A very unique stout, combining the flavors and strength of “export” style stouts with the drinkability of a dry stout. Eight different malts create the wide array of flavors: roasty, caramel, earthy, toast and a hint of smoke. The use of unmalted barley contributes velvety texture and a smooth finish that rounds the bitterness contributed by the highly roasted barley.

On tap at The Covey brewpub pouring up deep mahogany with rutty to brown edges and thin tan head. The aroma is pretty full with black licorice and some caramel and then moving swiftly into malts that are burnt to almost charred. The taste is much the same with licorice, roasty burnt to charred malts and the tasty modest additions of chocolate, chicory and coffee.

This was quite an enjoyable beer for me. Pours black with a nice tan colored head. Aroma is big, roasty and chocolate. Flavor is quite choclaty, dry, with lots of roasted nuts. Palate was lightly oily and slick. Yummy! Growlerable.

Very dark brown appearance. Lots of coffee and chocolate malts on the nose. Bitter taste rounds out the flavors with a nice coffee ground element taking point. Roasted notes reside in the finish. This is quite tasty too.
