Commercial Description:
“India Pale Ale” is brewed in the tradition of the strong English colonial ales of the 18th & 19th century. Brewer’s Gold is a New World hop variety, widely used as a bittering hop, but seldom used for its exceptional aromatic qualities: notes of black currant, fruit and spice delight the palate! While the hops are the showcase, the beer has a solid malt body with caramel and fruity flavors to help round the intense bitterness.

Pours rusty red-brown with orange highlights and a rocky white head. Aroma is mostly grapefruit and orange juice. Tastes of caramel, bitter toast/roast, grapefruit, wood. Hop flavor in the finish becomes a bit subdued and largely bitter. Creamy texture and medium bodied, full for the style though. I really like the way the Covey does IPAs, but the Amarillo was the best one so far.

Drank at the brewpub with ilovedarkbeer. According to the menu and our bartender, this is different than the East Kent Goldings IPA. Slightly, hazy brownish color with a nice head and tones of lacing. A mild, easy drinking IPA with earthy notes and a great mouthfeel.
