3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a strong beer. Beer pours cloudy, dark honey color with an average egg white colored head. Aromas of grain, spice and yeast are present with a big, prominent sugar aroma. Taste follows the aroma with pear, spices and sugar. Finishes dry.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light orange with some rich elements. Big banana on the nose. Smells fruity. Spicy notes but also has a lot of clove. A little heavy for a Belgian tripel but not distasteful.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft from a growler from the brewery. Smells lovely of brown sugar, maple, caramel, cinnemon, orange peel, wheat, light floral hops, and a bit of dirt. Offers so much on the nose, and I like it all. Tastes equally eventful, with a grainy taste at first, followed by that same wonderful sweet malt from the aroma, substantial wheat, bitter spice, maybe some coriander. Finish trasitions into a bitter cinnemon/coriander taste, french bread, then evens out to toast and a lingering aftertaste of gentle roast bitterness. Lovely flavor transitions to be honest. Creamy mouthfeel when freshly poured, the growler loses some of that ever so slightly. Medium/full mouthfeel slightly chewy, just shy of cloying, thanks to that finish. This is really really good! This reminded me pretty immediately of Lost Abbey’s Gift of the Magi and I was a huge fan of that beer when fresh. Put aside your grudges and try this beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very, very underrated. Taste with BMan1113VR at the brewpub. Pours a dark golden color with a small head and has a pretty hazy body, with some lacing. Nose is sweet and spicy. Taste is honey, spice, caramel, sugar and wheat. Nice thick and mouthcoating, and the alcohol is hidden very well. Finish is warming and sweet. Very nice.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: SEP 21, 2008 Number 400 for me. Enjoyed at the brewery with ilovedarkbeer. Byfar their best offering. Dark colored for a tripel. Hazy body with a nice ring around the head and sheets of lacing. Spicey aroma. Taste is honey and spice, and is quite good. Champagne like mouthfeel with some alcohol on the finish. Amazingly easy to drink at 10.5%.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a lightly hazed, orange-tinged gold with a medium white head. Aroma is spicy, with elements of Noble hops and orange zest.
Taste is sweetish and spicy. More zest, orange flavors, some grassy and spicy hop flavors, white pepper and ctirus along with toasty malt. Just the lightest bit of alcohol heat that follows late in the swallow; otherwise, extremely smooth and drinkable.
Mouthfeel is medium and soft, almost quaffable. Quite nontraditional for the style -- I would almost characterize it as an "imperial wit" but it does work as a tripel.
