Murky copper with a large rocky beige head. Aroma of grain, cereal, bread and earthy hops. Taste of caramel and roasted malt. Somewhat metallic, astringent and sour with a mild bitter finish.

Courtesy elmatador00. Pours a clear copper color with a huge, foamy tan head that sits there for awhile. The aroma is of toasted caramel malts, some floral hops, and some bready yeast. The flavor follows suit with the toasted caramel malts up front with some bittering hops on the back end. Medium bodied and decent sweet taste that leads to a bitter finish. Not bad for an amber ale, but not the best I have had either.

12oz bottle from Total Wine, Durham. Full disclosure: I’m not really big on ambers these days, but I figured I’d give DR’s a try after a long spell. Very handsome pour, crisp and lively carbonation bringing the copper brew to life. The aroma is actually a bit nutty, with mild fruity notes in there among the expected malts. Playful on the tongue, very much more hops than I’d expected, and they combine nicely with the nutty flavors. Good one.
