Travlr (700), Washington, Washington DC, USA Oct 25, 2009 Dark copper colored with a thick white head. Plenty of malt throughout, with overtones of caramel candy. A bit on the sweet side, but otherwise very drinkable. Braincage1 (137), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 23, 2009 Bottle. Nice dark red amber look with a thin off white head. Good and bad things in the aroma...bitter chocolate and caramel but some rubbing alcohol as well. Taste starts as sweet caramel with a long lasting sour nuttty finish. Not a big fan of that bitter nut aftertaste. Prometheus (97), Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA Oct 17, 2009 Bottle from Sams.
Amber color
Malty, caramel.
Maybe slightly fruity.
nothing special freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA Oct 10, 2009 Aroma shows a bit of tea, caramel and unfinished malt. Flavor is much the same with a slightly bitter finish. Nice round mouthfeel, but unusually placed sweetness lingers long into the aftertaste. Seems unrefined. Perhaps a bad bottle. Elwood (665), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Oct 8, 2009 Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Cloudy amber with a very effervescent, reddish/tan head.
Aroma: Malty with notes of caramel, carrots, and tea.
Flavor: A strong metallic note is the first thing I taste. Caramel, a twinge of tea, and a slightly oxidized note come along for the ride. This one is past it’s prime. A slight fruitiness emerges as the beer warms. It almost has a little winey character to it.
Palate: Medium, relatively smooth carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a slightly dry, medium finish.
Overall: Better than average but still not a great Amber. derekbrown (17), Greenville, North Carolina, USA Oct 5, 2009 I think this beer is pretty decent as far as Amber Ales go. Definitely worth a six-pack, but not more than one over a long-period of time. Duck-Rabbit is superior when it comes to darker beers, average with stuff like this. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 4, 2009 Hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, toffee, nuts, light brown sugar, citrus, and some floral hops. Taste of toffee, nuts, caramel, citrus, and light bitterness. joeneugs (289), Livermore, California, USA Sep 28, 2009 Pours amber colored with a disappearing orange/tan head. The aroma is lightly fruity, caramel, toffee, and nuts. The flavor is fruity with berries, caramel, nuts, and a mild hoppy/nutty finish. An OK amber, kind of watery, but with a nice finish.
