12oz bottle from bhalter8. Pours a dark black color with tannish one finger yellow head that settles slowly and provides ample lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dark ripe fruit, toffee, caramel, prunes. Flavor is also sweet and malty with notes of dark ripe fruit, dark chocolate, sweet caramel, toffee, ripe dark fruit, molasses, honey, and hints of spice. Generally medium body with a pleasing coffee and phenol finish.

Bottle from nearbeer. Thanks. Poured an opaque black color. the head was brown with an orange tint. Pleasant aroma of chocolate, dark fruit cake, and coffee. There was also a whiff of anise. Full bodied and and slightly sweet. The sugars were tempered somewhat by the ample roastiness. Molasses, chocolate, orange peel, and coffee flavors with a warming alcohol effect. Good beer.

[Bottle] Pours pitch black with a very small, soapy beige head. Aroma is quite sweet, lots of malt, some roasty bitterness hidden back there, a touch of chocolate, vanilla, and some coffee. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth, and somewhat oily. Gains a little astringency toward the end that is accompanied by a little bit of tartness. Flavor matches the aroma pretty well. Alcohol is barely evident, except for a little sweetness in the aroma.

Very dark and oily for a porter. Pours black with a small amber head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt. Flavor is great but I am thinking Impy while drinking it.

Pours a deep, rich, opaque sable, nearly black, with a thick, dark tan head that dissipates slowly. Rich aroma has good coffee and smoky tones, and an overtone of miso or salted fish. Flavor has the same fishy/salty overtone, but is still pleasingly smoky with hints of roast coffee, unsweet chocolate and hops, and a nutty undertone. Texture is thick and smooth, leaving a whisper of sweetness in the lively aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of kmweaver. Pours black with a small mocha head that diminishes to a thin ring and a few islands of bubbles at the surface. The nose is a big sweet blend of roasted malt, chocolate, tart dark fruit, coffee, tobacco and alcohol. Full-bodied and oily-slick with fine carbonation and a roasty, mildly tart/acidic finish. The flavor follows the nose with an emphasis on the dark roasted malt, tobacco and tart dark fruit notes. This is an interesting and tasty brew. Thanks again for sending it my way, Ken. :)

2007 bottle. Pours near black with a tan head. Sweet chocolate aroma with roasted malt, caramel and dark fruits. The flavor brings a heavier roasted note than the aroma with a touch of fruit and smoke, as well as some chocolatey sweetness. Nice and long roasty finish.
