| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 24, 2008 Black with medium head. Nice roasted malt with lots of dark fruit. Finish is quite sour and a bit metallic to boot. I’d usually write this off as a bad bottle, but this is the second time I’ve tried this beer and have had similar experiences. It’s almost like the dark fruit went a bit too sour.... beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 23, 2008 Thanks to Jeff for this one. Pours very dark brown with a thin khaki head. Sweet malt nose, dark fruits, cherry, chocolate. Heavy and sweet on the palate, faint burnt chocolate character, but not overly roasty, just kinda sits in the background. Flavor picks up a chocolate dipped cherry sweetness with a lingering bitter finish. Small hints of sweet tobacco show as you breath out. Bold and very complex, but still very drinkable. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 12, 2008 On tap. Pours almost completely opaque black with a small tan head that shows good retention and a little lacing.
Dominant smells are roasted chocolate malts with a bit of burnt coffee and some dark fruits. Some licorice and vanilla sweet in the background as well.
The taste is a drier, hoppier version of the smell. There is still the big roasted malt character up front with some sweetness of vanilla and dark fruits. But it’s the finish that really stands out with the hops leaving a dry espresso bitterness into the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with a bit drier character than most baltic porters I have tasted. Not a lot of carbonation in this one.
This is my favorite Duck-Rabbit brew and is a great Baltic porter all the way around. Highly recommended! daknole (2926), Plantation, Florida, USA

Black ass pour wtih a quick fading brown head. Aromas of molasses, soy, chocolate, coffee, syrup, candi sugar and deep malts hit the tongue. Flavor is sweet, thick, rich, syrupy...full of molasses, chocolate, and dark sweet dried fruit. Simply a world class porter and I need more ASAP! | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 27, 2008 Bottle via mcbackus on his way to 100 trades. Better than ever imagined. Pours cola black with nice carbonation and a tan ring around the edges. Huge syrupy aroma of choclate, molassas and roasted malt. Silky mouthfeel. Flavour strong with candied fruit, raisons and currants. Sticks to your ribs. illidurit (876), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 21, 2008 Thanks to wagenvolks for the bottle! Poured into a snifter. Black with slight brown highlights. Minute brown head that fades almost immediately and leaves no lacing.
Aroma is rich boozy chocolate with soy sauce, molasses, and sweet cream.
Flavor is considerably more complex than the aroma. Sweet chocolate graham cracker up front, with accents of licorice and molasses that carry it to a beautiful finish with just the right amount of roast. Perfect balance of sweet and roasted/bitter. A little smokiness and a subtle booziness.
Medium-full body with lowish carbonation. Very chewy and a little sticky. Finish is long and fulfilling. Great beer. hombrepalo (767), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 12, 2008 12oz. bottle Thanks to OldStyleCubFan, my summer santa. My first try at a baltic porter, really enjoyed it too. Pours opaque black with a thick light brown head that slowly fades over the course of consumption. Mocha, roasted malt, dark cherry and red wine in the nose. Pleasantly sweet and malty. Flavor has notes of dark chocolate, sweet caramel, cherry, dark fruit/figs, molasses, red wine, some bitter roastiness and lactic sourness at the end. Nice creamy body. Enjoyable, another one OSCF send me that nearly tops my list. Thanks Santa! Praetorian (86), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2008 Dark brown with no head but good lacing. the aroma was fruity: smelling of dates and cherries with hints of tar, yeast, licorice and chocolate. Bitter throughout. Medium-full bodied with a syrupy texture. A very good beer, but not quite my style.
