Black pour, small brown head. Flavor is pretty sugary sweet with lots of dark chocolate, licorice and caramel. Roasted malt and some coffee in the finish. Still very sweet lots of sugar in this one with a semi hoppy aftertaste. Medium bodied with a cloying sweetness. Not bad but not up to the hype.

12 oz. 06 bottle. Pours opaque blackish-brown, with reddish highlights and a modest, easily rejuvenated, finely carbonated brown head. Sweet aroma includes dark chocolate, brown sugar, licorice, figs and a touch of smoke. Flavor is dominated by soft cocoa, deeply roasted malt, dark fruit tang, and some sourness. Nicely balanced bitterness with a long dry finish featuring more chocolate and smoke. Smooth and a bit chalky, with a full body and moderate carbonation. Alcohol very well tempered. Great, big beer...I think its all been said here.

07 Bottle shared by Crosling, but thanks to DragonStout for sending me one I can keep. Way different than I expected, and honestly, much better than I expected also. Poured a deep brown color with a thin tan head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts along with a sweet fruitiness peaking through also. Flavor of roasted malts with light chocolate that is offset by a slightly tangy flavor, with undertones of sweet fruit that leads into a lightly smoky, dry, chewy finish. Slick and full on the palate. No alcohol is apparent. Good beer, thanks for sharing Nick.

Thanks to emacgee for the bottle. I guess I’m in the minority on this one. It has a nice aroma, kind of like plum and tobacco, the tan colored head dissipated really fast. I really am not digging the taste of this one. The alcohol comes on very strong and tastes like leather wrapped in licorice. The mouthfeel is decent with good carbonation, but the finish is very dry, kind of like a merlot. I don’t think I’d try this one again.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of Zinister. 2007 vintage. Pour is deep black with a 1/2 inch deep tan head. Head fades quickly to just a small swirl on top of the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, tobacco and some old worn leather. Taste is a really nice blend of the roasted malt with smoke and tobacco. Some licorice and soy in the taste as well. Really quite a bit going on in this one. The finish has the acidic bite that I love in an Imperial / Baltic porter. Nice full palate. Integrates the alcohol really well. I had been a bit underwhelmed by the regular Duck Rabbit line up, but this is really good. Thanks for holding one of these back for me Mike.

Dark, dark pour with thin, brown, and very temporary bubbly head. Creamy, sweet, malty aroma. Tastes of malty sweetness at first backed by bitter burnt cocoa, hints of chicory and anise. Also hints of chocolate covered cherries? Some sourness at the end. Great balance of bitter and sweet. Long finish. Haven’t had other baltic porters, and it took me a few to get used to it, in part because the thin palate surprised me. I’m told this is true to style. This was a very complex and challenging beer for me, and I encourage haters to be patient and perhaps try again. I was won over... Re-rate: trying a fresh (two-week old?) bottle now, and it’s so rewarding. Fuller, more creamy mouthfeel than last time I tried. Every bit as complex as before. I like this beer better every time I try it. I bought two sixers thinkng I might trade one of them... I think I just might drink these myself...

Pours black, with a creamy brown head. After the head settles, the beer itself looks marble! Minimal lacing, and it gives off an amber hue. Aroma is coffee, cream, and licorice in a very nice combination. Flavor is just as complex: chocolate, toffee, slight coffee. Tastes almost like candy, but is never sticky or too sweet, it really strikes the perfect balance. Warms you up as you drink, and gives a slight coffee aftertaste. This one lives up to the hype, and I can’t wait to try more of Duck-Rabbits offerings!

I don’t see the hype around this! It taste like bacon grease or pork rinds...Unless I had a funky bottle or something? Strong alcohol presence on the palette. Funky finish and an annoying cloying aftertaste of well for lack of better words bacon grease..I was somewhat disappointed by this one after it being rated 100...I had one and don’t care to try it again..even from me . a huge porter and stout fan...this one just doesn’t do it..
