Commercial Description:
The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter is deep, rich and velvety soft. A full blooded roasty character is balanced by complex alcohol notes. Strong (9% alcohol by volume) yet unfailingly subtle, this special brew warrants sipping and savoring.

12 oz bottle from trade with limesmut. Pours dark brown/black with thin light-brown head which dissipated quickly. Aroma is smoke and fruit, but alcohol comes through strongly. Flavor is raisin, smoke and noticeable alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium and sticky with alcohol burn and dry aftertaste. Very interesting brew. Definitely one to sip when on a cold night.

Pours very dark, with ruby edges, and a decent tan head with lacing. Aroma is chocolate, slight bit of caramel, and cream. Flavor is similar, with a decent alcohol burn and a lovely malt balance. A bit of bitterness from the roasted malts. Very good effort.

Had pretty much all the Duck-Rabbitt beers, and I got to say that this is probably the worst. I would take the Milk Stout and Russian Imperial over this in a heart beat. To alcohol heavy taste wise. Overall the Duck-Rabbitt has a good product, but the best thing about this beer was the cool hat that the duck was wearing.

I will be honest, this is not the kind of beer I usually enjoy. It is extremely dark and full of licorice, coffee, and raisin flavor. That said, I really did enjoy it.

Dark black with a tall creamy brown head. Strong sweet aroma of fruits, raspberry and chocolate. Flavor is interesting. A definite roasted bitterness hides behind a strong fruity sweetness up front. Some cream and chocolate flavors mix in as well. Delicious.

Pours about as dark as a porter can get, only faint ruby highlights and a thin cocoa brown head which quickly receded to a thin film. Absolutely enticing nose, very rich raisins with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg spices, dense alcohol fruitiness, very warming even on the nose. Very syrupy on the tongue, with almost no effervescence. On the palate the flavor unfolds in a number of directions, starting out treacle before expanding with deep yeasty fruits like plum and currant before melting down into one of the longest finishes I’ve ever had, one of rich milk chocolate with hints of spices and yeast. Hops seem predominantly to add hints to the complexity, but never really come to the front. The best american baltic porter hands down.

12 oz. bottle from Secret Santa. Pours a jet black with almost no head at all. Aromas of black coffee, licorce and alcohol assualt the nose. Mouthfeel is thick, heavy and oily. Flavors of soy, dark fruits, brown sugar and alcohol. As advertised, this is a sipping beer. Very warming on the palette and in your tummy. This was BIG beer. I loved it and will leave it on my wants list hoping to get more.
