Darker brown pour with a small head. Nice roasty aroma with a pleasant helping of smoke, coffee, and dark chocolate in the nose. Flavor is dry and roast with some nice chocolate in there. Flavor can’t match some of my favorite Impy stouts, but the mouthfeel is pretty darn nice. Stinging, tingly feel with a smoothness thats hard to match. Definately a best in style winner. Brilliant beer! jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 14, 2007 What can I say other than this was truly great. Tried with 5 other porters and this easily stood out. Several people said it was the best beer they had ever had. I agree. Pours nearly black with thick luxurious light brown head. Left nice lace. The aroma has tons of roasted coffee, hints of toffee and caramel. The flavor had plenty of bitterness accompanied with nice sweet balance. The body was medium to full and the aftertaste was dry. Lokking forward to the remaining bottles. JCB (1759), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 13, 2007 Figured with the 2007 batch out it was time to rate this delightful brew. Loved it fresh, love it aged, now loving it fresh again. What’s particularly delightful about DR’s variation on the style is that it combines the expected virtues - big body, chocolate malt, and roasts - with a really quirky flair. That is, I get this lovely almost milky malt flavor, something slightly tart and piquant but without acidity or anything especially vinous. Nothing so mundane as a coffee milkshake either, just an exceptional and unique blend of flavors. Damn, maybe this is better fresh than aged. Either way, it rocks. sunevdj (1771), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

The finish was very warm and roasty. ucusty (1885), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 6, 2007 Pours out like motor oil with a thin mocha head that dies pretty quick. Smells of big chocolate, dried fruits, fig and molassas. Tastes as it smells. Delicious. Porter name is decieving as this is thick and big just like an RIS. Full in the mouth and silky smooth. Extremely drinkable and a damn delight to drink. Seek this one out.
