Dark malt with some burned notes in the aroma and some caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, sour coffee, nuts, raisins, dark bread, madeira and plums. Maybe some hops underneath all the malt with hints of citrus. Medium sweet nose. Caramelly, roasted flavour with a late citrus sourness. Also tones of burned coffee, dark chocolate, dark bread, raisins, prunes and some smaller notes of brown sugar and tobacco. Rather smooth yet a bit sticky mouthfeel. Burned, citrusy liquorice aftertaste. Medium to full body. MaxxDaddy (263), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

A beautiful brownish-black with a decent amount of tan head. Great aroma of biscuity malts along with touches of raisins, chocolate and dark fruits. This bodes well. Flavor is more of the same, really get the raisins in there, with a little chocolate and alcohol in the background. The finish is good also, ending with more of a roasty, coffee flavor. Moderate to full palate with little carbonation. This is a truly awesome beer, worthy of all the praise. I only have one more bottle though...I’ll definitely be looking for more come the end of the year. aracauna (2381), Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2007 This is just a beauty of a beer. Very rich chocolaty malt. Creamy body. Full flavor and aroma. Immensely satisfying for any malt jones. I’d stock up on this beer by the case if I could. It’s like a dessert of brownies and a touch of cream. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2007 12 oz bottle from TURDFERGUSON, thanks dude! Deep brown w/a short lived, thin, beige head. Aromas start out chocolate and lightly raisiny dark fruit up front, followed by toasty & bready malts. Hints of roasted coffee and caramel, but mostly toasty when warmed. There is also an underlying hints of smokey aromas. Malty sweet up front & throughout, but not cloying. Chocolate and raisiny dark fruit w/ a touch of roast and caramel. Very mild portlike flavor as it warms. Finish is semisweet & chocolate that fades to raisiny fruit and light roast in the lingering aftertaste. Fuller medium body, smooth & creamy w/ a low medium carbonation, and well hidden alcohol. Very fine beer! Wonderfully complex and goes well w/ smokey prime rib or other lean darker meats. fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 11, 2007 Wow. Always impressed when a beer lives up to its hype and then even more so when I try it against my better judgement after having a few other strong beers. Full and rich doesn’t begin to describe the luscious brew. Chocolatey, roasty, tad sour, bladiddy bla bla - just plain GOOD. Soonah (930), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 10, 2007 From Immy via trade. Thank you! Poured an incredibly dark brown with very little light creeping through. Don’t wanna say black, but it’s as close as I’ve seen in a long while. Head was brown and one finger high. No real lacing. The aroma had incredible depth to it. Initially it’s super sweet with chocolate and vanilla dominating. As it opens up roasted malt, fruits and even a bit of floral hoppiness. The flavor sweet, but not overly so. Chocolate comes through first with roasted coffee following. A bit of spice rolling through as well. Nice mouthfeel but not a worldbeater. A great beer. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
