Commercial Description:
The Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter is deep, rich and velvety soft. A full blooded roasty character is balanced by complex alcohol notes. Strong (9% alcohol by volume) yet unfailingly subtle, this special brew warrants sipping and savoring.

From Immy via trade. Thank you! Poured an incredibly dark brown with very little light creeping through. Don’t wanna say black, but it’s as close as I’ve seen in a long while. Head was brown and one finger high. No real lacing. The aroma had incredible depth to it. Initially it’s super sweet with chocolate and vanilla dominating. As it opens up roasted malt, fruits and even a bit of floral hoppiness. The flavor sweet, but not overly so. Chocolate comes through first with roasted coffee following. A bit of spice rolling through as well. Nice mouthfeel but not a worldbeater. A great beer.

12oz. bottle Thanks to OldStyleCubFan, my summer santa. My first try at a baltic porter, really enjoyed it too. Pours opaque black with a thick light brown head that slowly fades over the course of consumption. Mocha, roasted malt, dark cherry and red wine in the nose. Pleasantly sweet and malty. Flavor has notes of dark chocolate, sweet caramel, cherry, dark fruit/figs, molasses, red wine, some bitter roastiness and lactic sourness at the end. Nice creamy body. Enjoyable, another one OSCF send me that nearly tops my list. Thanks Santa!

Dark brown with no head but good lacing. the aroma was fruity: smelling of dates and cherries with hints of tar, yeast, licorice and chocolate. Bitter throughout. Medium-full bodied with a syrupy texture. A very good beer, but not quite my style.

The aroma of the beer is amazing - smells like tropical fruit with a hint of dark pitted fruits (plums, raisins). One can also smell hints of tar and RED, yes i do mean RED licorice. It is a bit yeasty to the nose as well. It pours with virtually no head and the body hue is dark brown. The initial flavor is lightly sweet, but heavily yeasty. The finish is a bit salty. All in all though, the beer goes down smooth. The body feels medium to full on the palate, and the texture is syrupy. The carbonation is soft. I really enjoyed this beer! A great ending to a great night!

Bottle thanks to ucusty. Pours thick, with a small, off-white head. Very dark brown body. Aroma of dark fruits, tar, liccorice, cherry, yeast and chocolate. Taste is yeasty, with some initial soy sauce, then chocolate, butter scotch, some oxidation as well. Syrupy with light bubbles.

12oz Bottle. Berry heavy roast aroma, combining with clean alcohols, rich brandy-like complexity and all around malty delight. Pours deep black, with a blackberry liquor corner and a rim in deep tan. Flavor develops deeply. This is rather remarkable. The qualities of this beer are rather diffuse. It’s got fantastic roast character, great alcohol nuances, good caramel maltiness, and a crispness that keeps it lively. Fruitiness rises from the roast, alcohol or lagering. Although, the yeast product profile seems more ale-like, which might make this unusually complex. Palate is bright, crisp, dry and balanced. Nice beer. It’s got some of the quite complexity that demands a more deft palate to completely appreciate, but the roast character melds with alcohol and fruit so well to make this stunning at any level. Thanks for sharing Piper!
