2/19/15. 12oz bottle during RBWG 2015. I was surprised I hadnít had this already. Deep amber brown pour with a small tan head, mild lacing. Sour cherry aroma, vinous, some dark fruits and brown sugar, grainy, husky. Sweet flavor, vinous, sour cherry, burnt toffee, dark fruits. Not the greatest.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Piney hop aroma with a high amount of fruity esters and toffee malt aroma. Appearance is a clear amber with an off white head with good retention. Flavor is malty sweet with notes of toffee, biscuit and notes of roast. Fruity esters are high. Hop flavor is resiny. Mouthfeel is medium high with medium carbonation. Overall, it's a good american barleywine. Could use a little more malt complexity and body though.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from jcos, 11/16/14
Aroma: The nose is strongly malty/bready, some fruity notes, a little booze, and some caramel
Appearance: A clear orange-amber colored beer with a small off-white head and light lace
Flavor: The flavor profile is lightly sweet, heavy malty, booze, and a good bit of bitterness as well
Palate: Fairly full bodied, with a light stickiness, a bit of heat, a smooth feel, and a fairly dry finish
This is a fairly impressive example of the style. The booze is definitely present, but it doesnít overpower the rest of what is going on here. Based purely off its strength, this probably wouldnít be an everyday beer for me, but it is certainly an enjoyable one. Thanks Kramer!

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from bottle into snifter. Pours a rich reddish copper with a slightly orange-tinted head. Head falls some, but stays pretty resilient and leaves a ton of lacing. Aroma - full of caramel and malt notes, dried fruit underneath. Taste - surprising almost burnt taste at the start, then continues into a more traditional tasting barley wine. Burnt flavor fades pretty quickly, but is a bit of a surprise with every sip.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
12oz bottle, tasted on RBWG bus. Up front, quite oxidized. Almost nothing but oxidization. Hazy amber orange color. Thin off-white head. A couple loose dots and bits of lace. Very astringent bitter taste, light to moderate sweet, dry finish. Bigger body. Soft, lighter carbonation. Not a pleasant experience. Donít try to age this barleywine.
