Dear Duck Rabbit Barleywine,
It was great to see you the other night. Itís been a while. I never said it before but, Iím sorry. We never really talked about why I left North Carolina. Youíre still the same, still rich and complex, hoppy and sublime. But Iíve changed. I didnít want to leave but we had to and Iím happy where we are. It really was great to see you. Letís not go so long apart this time.

Dark golden medium bodied, aroma of fruit, flavors of sweet caramel, medium bitterness. Overall for the high alcohol content Duck-Rabbit is a laid back and dare say easy drinking barley wine.

Clear dark amber. Slight lacey head. Medium body. Wildflower honey. Tangelo peels. Nice syrupy aroma. Slight turpentine. Slight rancid butter. High alcohol not hidden.

12oz bottle from ?. Beautiful copper pour, murky clarity (cannot see through) with mostly diminishing off-white fizzy head. Fair but spotty lacing. Sweet dark fruity aroma, underlying citrus hop and alcohol aromas. Light bitter dark fruit up front with a medium citrus hop on the finish. Soft carbonation and oily texture on the palate. There was alot going on here, I may have missed a few things but overall I liked it.

3/6/14. Bottle bought 11/2012. Yum....poured dark copper with thin head that slowly faded. Nice rich fruit nose with a hint of hop. Deep round mouth with a hint of sour. Wonderfully complex. Drunk side by side with an early 2014 and a much more interesting drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours amber and clear with a light layer of spotty bubbles. Nose is some toasty, nutty, light caramel malts, bready but seems like itís lacking some richness that I would expect from a barleywine. Flavor is toasty and nutty with some toffee malts. Medium body and a little thin. Good flavor but seems like a small beer really.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a light brown color with a thin off-white head that doesnít last long. Not too much carbonation. Aroma is caramel and fruit. The caramel and fruit continue into the taste along with some sourness, especially in the finish. Warming alcohol after the swallow. Not bad.

Bottle->snifter. Hazy lite brown with moderate white head. Sweet caramel malt and dark fruit. Bittersweet. Straightforward but quite good.

6 pack at the brewery for 13 bucks. Pours a hazy copper/reddish color with a pillowy white head. Looks nice. Aroma is dark fruit, caramel, a little raisin. Taste is similar but with a heavier emphasis on the fruit and a little boozy with a lasting alcohol/caramel flavor coming through. Body is a little thicker and creamier than most Barleywines, low carbonation. Overall a fine Barleywine ale and one of the better offerings from Duck Rabbit. Recommended.

Best by: Dec, ???? A: dark caramel ale with a finger of whipped toasted cream foam. This sticks around for quite some time before barely retreating to a quilt of the same. Sheet lace. excellent clarity. S: Toffee, caramel, burnt sugar, hints of oatmeal and maple. Nice. T: Sweet malts, subtle cotton candy tone. Some nice maple syrup notes and a bit of raisin. Maybe a little bit of metal. M: Medium on heavy for the style. Lower, appropriate carb. Semi dry finish. O: Nice beer. Flavor a little off. would like a little thinner in the body. Serving type: bottle 11-17-2011

Bottle. Pours a copper color with little head. Notes of dark brown sugar syrup, english hops, cookies, and fruit. Sticky mouthfeel, long warming finish.
