3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle into snifter glass. Rusty-amber color with tan head. Aroma of heavy malt sweetness, caramel, dried fruitiness (plums, raisins) and brown sugar. Taste is pretty heavy on the caramel/dried fruits adding notes of chocolate, fresh fruit (cherries, figs), grainy, alcohol with minimal earthy hop bitterness. Heavy body, low carbonation, sweet, rich, syrupy with slightly sweet roasty finish. Pretty solid barleywine, not remarkable but solid.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep copper/amber in color. The nose was initially sweet and citrusy with aromas of lemon peel, marmelade, Christmas spice (double kick of clove) and toffee. In the mouth it was medium to full-bodied and concentrated yet allowed the hops to show by drying out the finish. This is well-balanced and appears as if it would age well for at least a couple years. There is also a nice amount of carbonation which helps keep this fresh.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle pours crystal clear ruby with huge bubbly tan head. Beautiful beer. Served at cellar temp with aroma of caramel, vanilla and some earthy woodness, maybe birch. Nice rich sweetness them only a touch of bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied and decent carb. Nothing super complex but just a plain good barley wine. 11% is a little hot but I see this aging well.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12oz bottle. Pours a copper color with about 2 fingers of cream colored head. Aroma is some caramel and a bit of citrus. Taste follows the nose with sweet caramel/toffee flavor and just the right amount of bitterness in the back end to balance well. The 11% is well hidden and quite drinkable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark amber body. Sprucy aroma. Crystal malt? Sort of a weird mix between Bigfoot and Arrogant Bastard. Heavy, almost syrupy texture.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
I think this is very underrated, one of the better barleywines that fairly easy accessible. Pours a light brown, with an almost yellow hue, and tinges of amber as well. Aroma is nice, a great mix of dark fruits, hops, yeast, alcohol, brown sugar, honey, and gumdrops. Flavor is great, malt, yeast, grain, hops, caramel, toffee, plums, brown sugar. Hints of vanilla and wood. Nice slight alcohol burn and a creamy medium mouthfeel. I loved this.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sweet with high alcohol warmth, no depth to find. Not a fan of this while relatively fresh. This needs some more work.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep chestnut color, small thin head forms nicely. Aroma is, as bobo would say, pound cake. Flavor is very sweet, with absolutely no hop flavor coming through at all. Very thick and viscous. NIce.

Bottle via trade with Frumpy Dumpty. Thanks Ryan! I have had this in the cellar for a few months and it did very well. Pours a dark brown color with an average size tan head with exceptional lacing on the glass. Aroma of brown sugar, malt, dark fruit, and hops.Taste is semi sweet with a little hop kick. Flavors of dates, molasses, caramel malt and hops. Has a nice smooth lasting finish.
