4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap in to a small nonic.
A: The beer is a deep dark mahogany color, clear, with excellent, well-proportioned tan head that fades slowly.
The aroma has a very pronounced dark chocolate note, and more dark fruit than I recall being in the standard version. To some extent, the dark roasted malts were masked by the barrel aging.
T: The barrel aging is obvious, a little too obvious, in tasting. Thankfully, the medium and dark roasted malts do show through, and there are some appreciated dark fruit notes. Excellent finish and aftertaste. Lightly sweet.
M: Full bodied and very smooth, with excellent medium carbonation.
O: Rich and improved version of the very good Duck-Rabbit Baltic porter. Very satisfying.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Easily one of the best smelling beers I came across @ Brewvival this year. Incredibly rich bourbon, chocolate, roast and more bourbon. Wow this was good. Flavors were decadently smooth and full of roasted malt, cocoa, bourbon and wood. Finish was slightly bittersweet and overly satisfying. Mouthfeel was thick and coating. Awesome indeed.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Brewvival 2012. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of huge whisky notes, wood and raisin notes. The taste is whisky, raisin and mild hops. Medium bodied.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2012 Sampled at the First Inaugural Raleigh Rare and Vintage Beer Festival. Listed as "bourbon barrel aged baltic porter" but no idea as to what type of barrel. Dark brown pour with not much head. nose of vanilla and anise. Flavors are big sweet licorice, toffee, bourbon, complex. Very silky smooth and oily on the palate. Great warming sensations.
Sampled again at at Brewvival 2012. Even better this time! Brewmaster said it was aged in Weller Bourbon barrels by Buffalo Trace. Awesome coffee and smooth bourbon. Easily one of the best examples of bourbon barrel aging Iíve ever come across.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a bottle shared at the pre-release of Olde Rabbitís Foot (thanks to Paul and Matt). Black pour with very little head. Rich aroma of bourbon and chocolate. Vanilla bourbon flavor that blends beautifully with this incredibly good Baltic Porter. Itís quite unfair that Iíve tried this and you have not. I would love to see this released to the public.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
I didnít think Iíd ever do it, but I have to give this a perfect 5. I donít think there ever has been or ever will be a beer this good. In fact, Iím not even sure if it exists... maybe I donít even exist. A MASSIVE thanks to Paul and Matt for graciously pouring a hefty serving of this at the ORF release tasting. It was like drinking sex with bourbon and chocolate being drizzled over you while bathing in a pool of butter.
Yeah. Super smooth, incredibly delicious, and almost unfair how good it was. Cheers to Paul and everyone at Duck Rabbit for making this brew.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
First of all- holy $&@#! Got a good sample of this straight from Paul and Matt at the pre-release for ORF at Foothills. Huge thanks to you guys!!!!
Pours fairly black, more super dark amber, with a small deep brown, menacing head. Aroma is simply the best smelling beer I have ever encountered: amazing Buffalo Trace bourbon, rich sea salted caramel, creme brulee, gourmet toffee, vanilla extract. Taste is very complex- actually this is less intense and in your face as the normal DR Baltic. This is more refined, smoother, way more dark fruits, dates, raisins showing through. Lots of creme brulee, caramel, sea salt, chocolate as well. Less roasty and less coffee- more fruits and bourbon. Unbelievably smooth. Simply retarded awesome. Tears of joy streaming down my face. Hurry up and get this bottled in 750s!!!!!

Opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, oak, bourbon, smoke, roasted malts, dark chocolate, and alcohol. Taste of dark chocolate, smoke, vanilla, oak, wood, nuts, tobacco, and bourbony alcohol finish. Thanks Ryan!
