An American brown ale brewed with loads of hops from start to finish (itís hoppy and beautifully bitter). Amarillo hops in the boil provide a spicy citrusy bitterness. Saaz dry hops in the fermentor provide a refined flowery aroma. These hops are supported by a grain bill of seven varieties of malt.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a brown in color with a nice red hue around the edge of the glass it had a small light brown creamy head that was mostly diminishing and had good lacing. The aroma was moderate of a nutty grain malt, a light resin hop and a mild leathery yeast with notes of caramel, chocolate and a mild dose of coffee. It tasted moderately sweet with hints of chocolate and caramel in the beginning, and finished a bitter-sweet with a nice light roasted coffee flavor and a touch of chocolate at the end. The flavor was left hanging on the taste buds for a nice long while, thus allowing for a full melding of all the flavors. Mouthfeel was full in body and nice and creamy in texture with the carbonation being rather flat. Overall an exquisite brown ale with tons of flavor, tasting so good it leaves you wanting more...

Bottle @ home, picked up in North Carolina. Pours a dark copper orange appearance with a big fluffy brown head. Twangy red fruity, citrusy nose. Some caramel and nutty elements. Kind of strange fruity aroma. Fairly bitter, nutty herbal flavor with a serious twanginess. Quite bitter. Moderate sweetness. Twangy finish. Not sure what is going on here.

Bottle. Really nice deep brown color. Aroma was roasted grains with hints of burnt toast. The taste was the issue. The bitterness of the almost burnt malts with the bitterness of the hops was just a little much. If one is looking for a bitter dark beer then this is for you.

A very dark amber color with a thick off white head. A sweet smelling beer with a thick consistency. A bitter, coffee taste.

@ Greens Discount Beverage / Columbia SC --- Clear dark ruby brown with a thick head cover, thin stripes of lace. Taste is mild caramel malt that grows bitter as it moves through the palate, adding carbonation fizz in the finish. Pretty simple brew.

Bottle. Dark brown with a 2 finger tan head. Earthy roasty aroma. Taste follows suit with a hint of cherry like sweetness. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Solid.

Tasted on 2/27/14 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods. Pours deep amber, just letting a bit of fiery light through, with a huge, rocky beige head that slowly recedes to thick, rocky lace. The nose is some nutty cocoa nib malt with a nice dose of spicy and green hops bitterness, and just a touch of fruity esters. The flavor is on the lighter side with the spicy and bitter hops coming through nicely and even a bit more fruitiness than on the nose. The body is medium with very lively carbonation and a long spicy hops and lightly nutty/fruity finish.

Pours mahogany/red. Quick head with some lacing. Smells floral/earthy. Tastes of bitter chocolate, coffee and grass, medium-light body. Slightly metallic, bittersweet finish. Middle of the road offering.

Bottle into shaker. Dark brown. Malty aroma. Dark chocolate, coffee, ginger taste. Smooth finish. None of the hops, bitterness, or flowery aroma that are advertised are present. This is more like a porter to me.

Sucks. I donít like this brewery much based on the beers I have rated. I donít even think this is a brown?? Slight coffee and musk in aroma cloudy red brown pour. Taste is hoppy throughout but not enjoyable at all
