COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Duck-Rabbit Hoppy Bunny American Black Ale is both intensely hoppy and intensely BLACK! Eight separate hop additions offer delicious bitterness and beguiling hop aroma/flavor. Heavily represented among these hops are Chinook, which provides deep pine and sticky citrus components and a New Zealand hop called Motueka, from which we get bright fruit and spearmint notes.

growler. Deeply brown/black ale w/ khaki/sand head. Coarse malts are actually smoothed out by citrus/Chinook hops. So malty thou! Great NC beer & brown ales usually bore me.

Bottle. Darker cola pour. Big green hop aroma, coffee notes, pretty solid roastiness. Hops shine with a nice roast/coffee balance. Nice BIPA

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2012 Dense black pour that throws up an equally dense, long lasting, tan head. Dark roasted malt aroma with some pine. Almost smoky. The flavor is as bitter as the bitterest stouts from the roast malt. I don’t care for roast malt bitterness to this degree, but if that’s your thing; you’ll probably love this one.

Dark with a foam like a soda. More bitter than I expected which was a good think as it balanced out the sweet chocolate and malt flavors ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark and decadent with a small off white head. Nose is pine, grass, hay, chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet up front and great bitter after. Mouthfeel is crisp and sharp, light bodied and a big aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle:   Fairly black, large foamy tannish head, nice lacing.   Hoppy nose, slightly citrusy, also some roasted malts and a touch of dark chocolate.   Hoppy and pithy on the tongue, up front, with a roasty background.   Slightly astringent, some coffee like finish, green coffee.   Not as sweet or chocolate like that I got on the nose.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A little mineral like after the finish.   Smells nice, starts out okay, but doesn’t finish as sweet or as perhaps clean as I would like.   Still entertaining.   Thanks Jeff!

10/2/12. 12oz bottle from Five Points. Very dark pour, not quite black, but a very dark brown, with a very nice tan head that sticks and laces a ton all over the glass. Citrus, pine, and a little bit of soap on the aroma as well as a touch of coffee and chocolate which makes a mocha effect. Definite hoppy citrus kick in the flavor that matches well with the slight acidity of the darker malts. There is lingering coffee and chocolate as well as a cream aspect. It’s really almost like a slightly hoppy creamy mocha. Mmm.
