COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Duck-Rabbit Hoppy Bunny American Black Ale is both intensely hoppy and intensely BLACK! Eight separate hop additions offer delicious bitterness and beguiling hop aroma/flavor. Heavily represented among these hops are Chinook, which provides deep pine and sticky citrus components and a New Zealand hop called Motueka, from which we get bright fruit and spearmint notes.

Nice coffee and chocolate notes. Deep black with a tan head. Bitter with just a touch of chocolate sweetness. Dry with a snappy bitter finish.

I've yet to have a bad brew from this brewery. This one isn't my favorite. It's a solid beer, but it seems a bit flat in flavor. Nose is toasty and hoppy, cocoa, malts. The taste is overly bitter for me. The heavy dark vs the hop is a bit monotone and not well rounded. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this one. I'll definitely have it again for a second try. -Fish!

Interesting aromas of sweet, roasted malts and something savory mixed in with the hops - not unlike a sweet and smoky barbecue sauce. Moderate carbonation and a light-to-medium body on this one. Big, smooth roasted flavors. A little bit of an acrid note at the back end. Espresso and a licorice-like spiciness make appearances. The finish is bright with pine resin hops, but not overly bitter. The acidity is just enough to make your mouth water. Very nice ABA.

growler. Deeply brown/black ale w/ khaki/sand head. Coarse malts are actually smoothed out by citrus/Chinook hops. So malty thou! Great NC beer & brown ales usually bore me.

Bottle. Darker cola pour. Big green hop aroma, coffee notes, pretty solid roastiness. Hops shine with a nice roast/coffee balance. Nice BIPA

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2012 Dense black pour that throws up an equally dense, long lasting, tan head. Dark roasted malt aroma with some pine. Almost smoky. The flavor is as bitter as the bitterest stouts from the roast malt. I don’t care for roast malt bitterness to this degree, but if that’s your thing; you’ll probably love this one.

Dark with a foam like a soda. More bitter than I expected which was a good think as it balanced out the sweet chocolate and malt flavors ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark and decadent with a small off white head. Nose is pine, grass, hay, chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet up front and great bitter after. Mouthfeel is crisp and sharp, light bodied and a big aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle:   Fairly black, large foamy tannish head, nice lacing.   Hoppy nose, slightly citrusy, also some roasted malts and a touch of dark chocolate.   Hoppy and pithy on the tongue, up front, with a roasty background.   Slightly astringent, some coffee like finish, green coffee.   Not as sweet or chocolate like that I got on the nose.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   A little mineral like after the finish.   Smells nice, starts out okay, but doesn’t finish as sweet or as perhaps clean as I would like.   Still entertaining.   Thanks Jeff!
