growler. Deeply brown/black ale w/ khaki/sand head. Coarse malts are actually smoothed out by citrus/Chinook hops. So malty thou! Great NC beer & brown ales usually bore me.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry, good fine carbonation. The dark malts are mildly roasty bitter. Good piney floral hops with an overtone of light citrus. Crisp light finish. Nice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Redwood. Very dark brown pour with a large frothy tan head. Lots of wet lace. Dark chocolate. Leather. A nice dark burnt element to it. Mild black pepper spiciness. Medium-bodied when cold but seemed to thin as it warmed (which is unusual because it tends to be the other way around.) Not bad, but not as good as Duck-Rabbit stouts.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at ChrisO’s house of fun. Thanks to L-Dogg. for this CDA. It pours deep brown with a thick tan head. The nose is soft, juicy pine, varnish, earth, ashy, cocoa and dark chocolate. The taste is bitter, earthy roast, cocoa, toast, ash, charred wood, leather, varnish, dark chocolate and some citrus rind. Medium body and high carbonation. Pretty solid CDA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured clear black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt and earthy aroma. Medium to full body and a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark bittersweet flavor to medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a good complex beer.

On tap at Barley’s Taproom and Pizzeria. Somewhat strange aroma with licorice. Smooth roasty taste with fruity american hops. Only slightly bitter. Not bad at all.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from 12 oz bottle. This is a black ale. Just as it says. Chocolate and coffee malts, but cleaner malt wise than a stout. The finish is very clean. A nice beer

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, mild hoppy character, earthy, mild bitterness, seems more like a porter they tried to throw some hops in. Decent enough, but softer than I would expect from these guys.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by Tmoney99 pour dark brown with thin tan head. Nose green beans? Slight vegetal, then lighter roast and dank hop. Taste initial bitter and burnt, but then some more pleasant roasted malt. Mid to late some roasted and chocolate.
