COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Duck-Rabbit Hoppy Bunny American Black Ale is both intensely hoppy and intensely BLACK! Eight separate hop additions offer delicious bitterness and beguiling hop aroma/flavor. Heavily represented among these hops are Chinook, which provides deep pine and sticky citrus components and a New Zealand hop called Motueka, from which we get bright fruit and spearmint notes.

growler. Deeply brown/black ale w/ khaki/sand head. Coarse malts are actually smoothed out by citrus/Chinook hops. So malty thou! Great NC beer & brown ales usually bore me.

Wow, full flavor and body! Wish I had picked up more of this when I went to NC. A very satisfying brew that would stand up to any Cascadian Dark Ale that I’ve ever had.

Bottle. Black with a thick tan head. Aroma is citrusy and piney hops. Taste adds nice chocolate and roast notes underneath the hops. Medium sticky body and carb. Very good.

Poured as a taster. Lots of interesting hop nose - some citrus and pine and some tropical fruit noes underneath. The taste is nice, hoppy but not a giant hop bomb. Hop notes are more balanced towards citrus and tropical fruit with pine subdued.

Bottle from trevor. Pours black with tan head, 3 fingers and foamy. Citrus and roast nose, mildly piny. Roast and pine amd mildly bitter and astringent. Goold mouthfeel and surprisingly caramely sweet.

Fantastic black ipa. Easy to drink but plenty of flavor. Great hops with dark malt flavor. Creamy hoppy mouth fill.

Transfer from BA review on 5-28-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – Pours a super deep brown color that looks black in the glass with only light able to shine through at the bottom of the glass or when held in front of the light, allowing a little bit of a ruby color to be seen. Upon pouring there is a one finger cream head that has a moderate level of retention, but which fades to leave a good level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell- Overall the aroma is rather light consisting mainly of roasted malt and pine. With these aromas comes other aromas of a grapefruit hop and a sweeter chocolate smell. Taste – The taste starts out with a smooth roasted malt taste mixed with some nice pine hoppiness upfront. The hop is not strong, but complements the roasted flavors nicely. Some dark chocolate begins developing more toward the middle, along with some more pine hop and an entrance of grapefruit hop. The pine remains rather light and is soon overshadowed by the grapefruit hop more toward the end. The chocolate also increases in intensity till the end with it sweetening up some toward a more semi-sweet chocolate. In the end a very pleasant dark and roasted but lightly sweetened hop flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is rather average. Overall it was a nice feel as the fuller body was great for the roasted and chocolate flavors while the carbonation added a bit of tingle to complement the hop nicely. Overall - A rather tasty ABA. It was actually a nice pairing upfront in the taste of the drier roasted flavors with the pine followed by another nice complementation of the grapefruit hop and chocolate toward the end of the taste. This was a rather tasty drink and is one to try.

Aroma is hop and nice with slight grain. Decent head that fades. Good hop and burnt grain flavor. Decent mouthfeel. More a black ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Une black ipa qui tire plus vers le robuste porter. Une fine résine dans le corps, pas trop d’aromatique houblonné pour camoufflé le chocolat noir, des notes lactées, très moelleux en bouche.
