COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Duck-Rabbit Märzen is the lightest of our Germal-style lagers. This is a beer designed for outdoor autumn festivals! Soft malt flavors take center stage here. This one is subtle and beguiling.

Had this back at the Oktoberfest in CLT, but I’m rating it from a bottle now. A little bit sweet and heavy for me. Flavor was certainly there, but it was kind of stuffy, and didn’t have the smooth crispness that makes me love this style (formerly my arch nemesis style).

Good example of marzen, just not my style. It pours clean and finishes crisp, it;s all malt. Better than most American marzen, not as good as the best Germans

Rather dark copper pour with a small white head. Left some good lace and stuck around nicely. Aroma was heavy caramel malt, hints of earthiness and just a note of floral hoppiness. Flavors were quite robust given the style. Loads of crystal with a restrained sweetness. A bit of roast in there too, just a smidge. Very lager like finish, clean as can be with just a hint of bitterness. Smooth and very drinkable. Easily one of the better Marzens I have come across.

Bottle. Amber with small dense pale brown head. Aroma sweet malt, bread, nuts. Taste sweet malt and bread, some fresh hopps in the finish.

Originally reviewed: 11/9/09. Poured into my pint glass. Pours a dark amber/orange with about an inch’s worth of ivory head on top. Little retention, but it left some good lace on the side of the glass. Smells of toasted malts, caramel, and light floral hops. The mouth is crisp with a moderate amount of carbonation. Nice sweet caramel starts this beer out. Flavors of bread and crackers fill it in; finishes with a mild hop bite. This is pretty good. This is one of their better beers. I’m glad they’ve ventured into the world of lagers. Nice work, Duck-Rabbit!

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a clear deep copperish-brown with a thin soapy head. No head retention at all and also no lacing. Pretty disappointing. Aroma is an interesting mixture of caramel, vegetables, and metal. Some apple notes too. The flavor is a little better but still an odd mixture of what seem to be off-flavors. Caramel and fruit are more pronounced with apples figuring in even more prominently. A touch of tartness with a bit of a chalky finish. Overall, this beer just seems a bit "off". Not sure if it is a sanitation issue or a yeast issue but there are definitely off-flavors here. Really needs to be cleaned up.

A tasty Oktoberfest beer, I have to admit, this brewery is growing on me. Malty aroma and taste, balanced with a slight bitter hop flavor.

bottle 37,5 cl. Pours a red amber with a small white head and an aroma of malts and dark bread. The taste is pretty sweet, with some notes of malt and caramel. There’s some hoppy bitterness to be tasted somewhere, but this beer is mainly sweet. It’s a drinkable beer, but I don’t really like it.

On tap at the Mellow in Asheville. Bright copper with a tiny head. Soft malt aroma and all malt taste. Just what I was looking for! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a light to medium brown. Nose is caramel and brown malt with breads notes inst sip is sweet but thin. Finish is slight bitter like burnt malt.
