from erzbierschof.ch - hazy reddish-brown colour with no foam left; hoppy aroma of red fruits, toasted, earthy and chewy; rounded palate and with a subtle and moderate carbonation; sweet and quite tasty; quite dry and decently bitter; grapefruity hoppy finish with light notes of caramel - very nice

Bottle from hellbilly! Thanks. Cloudy brown. Aroma is an absolute caramel malt blast with some honey and light nuts. Flavor hits with caramel, nuts and bread. Nice for the style.

355mL. Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, maraschino cherries. Taste is biscuit, vienna malt, light caramel, but overall fairly watery. Also has a bit of a smoked taste and then turns a bit sour. Drinkable. A bit earthy. Meh- festbiers just aren’t my thing.

12 ounce bottle from Market Street Wine Shop, Downtown, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear amber color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee and nuts. Taste is caramel, dry leafy hops, nuts and faint fruity notes. Medium bodied. Smooth. Straightforward marzen. Pretty good.

355ml bottle picked up at Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo. Clear amber body, minimal off-white head. Dry, nutty malts to the nose. Earthy malts to the taste buds together with almond. More sweet than bitter towards the ending. So and so (hotel room, 27.04.2011).

12 oz bottle. It pours a bit darker and redder than the average Maerzen. The head is foamy and slightly off-white and it recedes pretty quickly, but with some decent lacing. The smell is pretty standard, there is a hint more caramel in teh smell of this one in comparison to other maerzens. The flavor is odd, it has an astringent bitterness ot it and some hints of chocolate. It has an odd sweetness too, It isn’t very good unfortunately. Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing froth of off-white head. Has a semi-sweet toasty German malty nose with some noble hops and a hint of lemon tartness. Starts with pretty good fullness and some authentic grainy German malty sweetness with a nice balance of noble hoppy bitterness before a crisp, clean finish. Pretty true to style and quite drinkable.
