The Duck-Rabbit Märzen is the lightest of our Germal-style lagers. This is a beer designed for outdoor autumn festivals! Soft malt flavors take center stage here. This one is subtle and beguiling.

12 oz bottle. It pours a bit darker and redder than the average Maerzen. The head is foamy and slightly off-white and it recedes pretty quickly, but with some decent lacing. The smell is pretty standard, there is a hint more caramel in teh smell of this one in comparison to other maerzens. The flavor is odd, it has an astringent bitterness ot it and some hints of chocolate. It has an odd sweetness too, It isn’t very good unfortunately. 355ml bottle picked up at Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo. Clear amber body, minimal off-white head. Dry, nutty malts to the nose. Earthy malts to the taste buds together with almond. More sweet than bitter towards the ending. So and so (hotel room, 27.04.2011).

Bottle from hellbilly! Thanks. Cloudy brown. Aroma is an absolute caramel malt blast with some honey and light nuts. Flavor hits with caramel, nuts and bread. Nice for the style.

Botella. Nice red-brown amber like colour. Malty toasty caramel aroma, sweet. Good mouthfeel. Malty well toasted caramel rather sweet like hoppy flavour with a good bitterness.

It’s slightly hazy, red copper and the head is creamy. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel and fruit. The flavour is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, fruit and the finish is dry. Round and pleasant – but very different from it’s German roots.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours deep copper with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is roasty vienna malt, hops, earthy. Tastes caramel malty, smooth, complex, with backup hops and a vienna/munich malt flavor profile. Nice.

355mL. Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, maraschino cherries. Taste is biscuit, vienna malt, light caramel, but overall fairly watery. Also has a bit of a smoked taste and then turns a bit sour. Drinkable. A bit earthy. Meh- festbiers just aren’t my thing.
