An awesome imperial milk stout. Super smooth with a burnt coffe flavor. Smells like chocolately. Has a nice bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

While the darkness of appearance can be intimidating, it is actually very smooth on the palate with no hint of the heavy bitterness associated with most beers this dark.

Pours dark black with minimal head. Smells of chocolates goodness and tastes the same. Great stout to start with, not as heavy or strong a some others. I really enjoyed it.

I am a dark beer fan, and Duck Rabbit knows what I like. Dark appearance, malty aroma, and smooth finish of malted barley. Fantastic!

On draft at the Busy Bee in Raleigh. Pours black with creamy but smallish light tan head. Nose of vanilla, chocolate, and milk oak. Not nearly as bourbony as the Pappy Van Winkle version. Certainly more low-key, but not as flavorful. Still quite good.

Had the pleasure of having a couple of pints from a cask of this in Chapel Hill. Dark brown pour with the expected head from a cask poured ale, beige in color. Bourbon notes are big at first, but they don’t overshadow the other wonderful elements of this beer by any stretch: bitter chocolate, sweet coffee, caramel, vanilla, dulce de leche, tangy bourbon oak. I swear I could tell that this was aged in barrels from good bourbon, not just Kentucky swill. Immensely drinkable, too, which is a big plus. A very tasty beverage.

On draft at World Beer Fest Durham. Just wow. Poured black with medium tan head, with some lacing. Aroma of molasses, coffee, raisins and dark fruits. Flavor of dark fruits (hint of dried cherries especially) coffee, some caramel and bourbon. Alcohol is well hidden, but it is certainly MUCH higher than the stated 5.8 ABV, more like 9.5 or 10, as after a pint I was feeling it. Excellent beer, best of anything Duck Rabbit has put out, which is saying a lot!

Draft @ Capones. Had this while I talked to Paul and the dude with the impressive red BEARD :) Black with small tan head. Massive aroma of deep roasted malt, milk, wood, and bourbon. The taste was rich and drinkable with sweet vanilla, bourbon and chocolate coming through. The regular milk stout aint got shit on this beer. That Pappy Van Winkle must be some good shit...I think I will get a bottle. Best beer of the DF offerings that night.
